Overview: chalet description: Chalet Silvana description

The Silvana is superb and a much-loved part of our Meribel programme which has proved hugely popular with many of our guests who stay there year after year.

Located in an attractive Alpine building in the Morel area of Meribel, this wonderful first and second-floor split-level duplex apartment offers great accommodation for groups up to 7 people. There are four bedrooms including a much sought-after single room which meaning The Silvana is a rare find for a 7 people. The living room is warm and cosy with a wonderful log fire and doors leading a super balcony.

The English owners have taken real pride in decorating the property to the highest of standards whilst combining Alpine tradition with modern, comfortable furnishings and fittings. It is set in great position in Morel so you can take advantage of the few bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity, including the Petit Oignons with its live music and popular apres-ski spots such as the Ronnie or Folie Douce are just a short ski from home.

Skiing is easily accessible via a flat walk along to the blue slope leading down to the village and Chaudanne or alternatively the local free bus stops outside the chlet. Alternatively, the Morel chairlift which will whisk you directly into the Altiport skiing area is just a short walk away. The main square is about a 15 minute walk away (downhill so slightly more on the way back!) with its many shops, bars and restaurants which this world-famous village has become renowned for... as well as, of course, being at the heart of the Three Valleys ski circuit, arguably the biggest area in the World. You will be warmly welcomed to The Silvana by one of our well-trained chalet hosts who lives out but nearby. See

Did You Know: The name Silvana is of Italian origin and translates as "woodland" or "forest" - the perfect name for a property such as this set in a peaceful and tranquil location amongst the beautiful fir trees of Meribel.

Meals: Chalet Silvana food & drink

We offer our properties on a flexible catering basis therefore providing our guests with as much choice as possible when choosing a fully-catered, part-catered or self-catered chalet or apartment. Your preferences will be discussed at the time of booking and a tailor-made itinerary will be costed based on your requirements.

Our chalet hosts all enjoy cooking and take pride in what they serve and whilst they are not necessarily qualified chefs, they have good experience of dinner party cooking and many of them will have attended one of the well-regarded cookery schools with whom we work closely to ensure the highest calibre of staff possible.

If choosing the fully catered or part catered option, you will be assured of good home-cooked food prepared and served by our specially selected chalet hosts. We do not offer luxury items or haute cuisine, we serve good wholesome hearty food fit for anyone after a hard day on the slopes. Menus will be varied and may include local dishes as well as the more traditional UK favourites such as roasts, lasagne or casseroles.

Our menus have been formed over many years taking into account previous guests’ likes and recommendations and whilst we believe this plan to offer excellent variety, there will be the odd occasion when a dish might not be well-received. We would ask you therefore that if you have any specific dietary requirements or a yearning for dishes in particular, you enquire before booking your holiday and provide us with as much notice as possible regarding specific diets such as vegetarian, vegan, celiac or non-dairy etc.

We update Chalet Silvana's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

3 Valleys ski area Excellent ski schools Lively après ski

Meribel has a special place in many Brit's hearts – not simply because it’s right in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area. British made, and largely Brit run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a homely atmosphere in a good looking resort with more than enough pistes for a week (or three). It's made up of a huddle of gorgeous hamlets, built in traditional wood and stone and surrounded by thick woodland. The main area is Meribel Centre (usually known just as Meribel). A traditional alpine village with choc-box chale...
Meribel is one of the best ski resorts to learn in. There are three beginner areas known as 'Ski Facile' (easy ski) plus great green pistes to practise on including Le Foret and Altiport. Both runs are carefully planned out so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings. If you're skiing with children, there are fantastic ski schools and child-orientated areas, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees at the 'Pistes des Animaux' where children can learn about local wildlife as they e...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes can be as varied as the day spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It's said that you haven't experienced après ski here (or anywhere for that matter) until you've sampled toffee vodka in Le Rond Point, which is easily one of the most famous après ski bars in the world - complete with a slide down to the toilets! Meribel's rightly famous for its nightl...

"Everything we were expecting."

We had a lovely week, the Silvana is a nice chalet and we were really pleased with it; everything looked just like the pictures. The fact that there’s an open fire is always good, and I liked the setup of the living space, which was away from the kitchen so you had a bit of privacy while the chalet hosts were cooking. I also liked that it’s on 2 levels, and that there are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It’s not ski in, ski out, but it didn’t claim to be – the access to the slopes was as described, about a five minute walk that was a little uphill on the way back. The only things that we were lacking: We’ve always tended to eat out in the evenings but were a bit disappointed with Meribel which didn’t seem to have many places to eat, and was a bit quiet (maybe because it was late in the season or that Meribel’s very chalet centred?). Also, we normally find a bakery within a 1-2 minute walk that delivers a set of pastries to your door, like croissants and pain au raisin, but here we couldn’t find much apart from bread.
