Overview: chalet description: Chalet Iona description

The Iona is an absolutely superb apartment forming part of a lovely recently built Savoyard residence right in the centre of Val d'Isere and runs alongside our other "Scottish Isles" apartments, a hugely popular part of the programme.

Situated on the top floor (4th with lift), this wonderful apartment has been cleverly created to provide superb accommodation for up to 8 people in four en-suite bedrooms. Decorated by the French owners using only the best materials, furnishings and fittings, it offers really comfortable and spacious surroundings in probably the most enviable location in this world-renowned resort.

The large open living/dining room boasts an open log fire and has French windows leading to a balcony/terrace on which you want watch the hustle & bustle of the high street perhaps over a large slice of cake or even a glass of chilled wine! All bedrooms are beautifully furnished and there is the added advantage of a private sauna to rest those weary legs after a hard day on the slopes. The Iona truly is a superb choice and with its comfort and style combined with easy access to the resort centre and ski lifts which are just a 5 minute walk away, it really does provide everything one could wish for in the heart of Val d'Isere. You will be warmly welcomed to The Iona by one of our friendly chalet hosts who lives out.

Did You Know... Iona is a small island forming part of the inner Hebrides on the Western coast of Scotland and is renowned for its tranquillity and natural beauty - the perfect way to perhaps describe this wonderful chalet-apartment!

Meals: Chalet Iona food & drink

We offer our properties on a flexible catering basis therefore providing our guests with as much choice as possible when choosing a fully-catered, part-catered or self-catered chalet or apartment. Your preferences will be discussed at the time of booking and a tailor-made itinerary will be costed based on your requirements.

Our chalet hosts all enjoy cooking and take pride in what they serve and whilst they are not necessarily qualified chefs, they have good experience of dinner party cooking and many of them will have attended one of the well-regarded cookery schools with whom we work closely to ensure the highest calibre of staff possible.

If choosing the fully catered or part catered option, you will be assured of good home-cooked food prepared and served by our specially selected chalet hosts. We do not offer luxury items or haute cuisine, we serve good wholesome hearty food fit for anyone after a hard day on the slopes. Menus will be varied and may include local dishes as well as the more traditional UK favourites such as roasts, lasagne or casseroles.

Our menus have been formed over many years taking into account previous guests’ likes and recommendations and whilst we believe this plan to offer excellent variety, there will be the odd occasion when a dish might not be well-received. We would ask you therefore that if you have any specific dietary requirements or a yearning for dishes in particular, you enquire before booking your holiday and provide us with as much notice as possible regarding specific diets such as vegetarian, vegan, celiac or non-dairy etc.

We update Chalet Iona's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...
