Overview: hotel description: Sport Village Hotel description

Meal Basis: Half Board
There are very few ski hotels anywhere in the world which can lay claim to the fact they have their own gondola station, but that’s the case at the Sport Village in Soldeu. It’s pretty unique as the lift departs from inside the hotel, giving direct access to the amazing Grandvalira ski area.
Centrally situated in the village of Soldeu, the hotel is found at the base of the slopes offering ski to door access when snow conditions permit and within a few minutes’ walk of the village centre. The hotel offers excellent facilities and levels of service, attracting customers from the world over, making it an ideal choice for a ski weekend or short break in the heart of the Pyrenees in Andorra.
The hotel is traditional in design and décor, with classical Alpine features and a mountain hotel ambience. Featuring 148 spacious bedrooms, the Sport Village is a large hotel offering a huge variety of room types, from standard twin and doubles (some with mountain views) to triple rooms and a selection of suites. Each standard room has an ensuite bathroom with WC, satellite TV, telephone, safe and minibar (chargeable).
Your short break will be booked on a half-board basis, with all meals taken in the hotel’s restaurant with views of the slopes. Breakfast is a copious buffet of fresh, hot and cold items, while dinner will either be themed buffets or à la carte, dependent on the season. If your holiday is over Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve, special gala dinners are included in the price, and on 31st December drinks, wine and champagne are also thrown in during the meal!
When you’re back from skiing, you can drop by the Villager Irish Pub in the same building, for a few drinks and some light tapas. You’ve also got access to a gym with fitness equipment and machines, Wi-Fi is available in public areas and there is a storage room for skis. Calbo Sports is the ski hire shop in the hotel, so you can rent your equipment on the spot. If you’re travelling as a family, a kids’ club is available free of charge.
If you’re staying at the Sport Village Hotel you’ll benefit from special rates to access the incredible Sport Wellness Mountain Spa in the 5* Hermitage Hotel & Spa, next door and belonging to the Sport Hotels Group. This beautiful spa is 5000m2, built over 5 floors and without doubt one of the finest in Andorra and Europe, boasting a range of swimming pools, Jacuzzis, saunas, steam bath and showers. Massage and beauty treatments can be booked locally at a supplement. The spa is not suitable for children under 13; swim wear and flip flops must be worn. 3 hours entrance to the spa is €49 per person and includes a drink.

Soldeu and El Tarter are the more reserved neighbours of lively Pas de La Casa, and share the same Grandvalira ski area with the best skiing in the Pyrenees. Over 200km of slopes, three immaculately maintained snowparks, and enough mountain restaurants to keep even gastro-skiers occupied. Down at resort level great bars and restaurants let you take advantage of Andorra’s famous sunny afternoons and, if you’re looking for a trip to avoid the crowds and prices of the Alps, a ski holiday in Soldeu or El Tarter is hard to beat.

Together with Pas de la Casa, Soldeu and El Tarter make up the Grandvalira which is the largest, highest and most popular ski area in Andorra. Soldeu is the larger and livelier of the two villages, with El Tarter retaining a more traditional feel. Although just around the corner from Pas de la Casa, there is a much more relaxed and family friendly vibe in Soldeu and El Tarter, and they have successfully distanced the villages from the cheap and cheerful heavy partying reputation that Andorra built up in the nine...
The Grandvalira ski area is the largest in the Pyrenees, and recent expansions and infrastructural improvements have enhanced it sufficiently so that it is rightly considered a viable alternative to skiing in the Alps, especially compared to the smaller resorts. With over 200km of piste, three snow parks, a boarder cross course and designated freeriding areas there’s fun to be had regardless of how you like to spend your day on the mountains. 60% of the ski area is covered by artificial snowmaking facilities, s...
Whilst the nightlife in this neck of the woods is overshadowed by nearby Pas de La Casa, there’s still enough variety for a one week ski holiday. And if this doesn’t prove to be the case, then Pas is just a short bus ride away… With a good range of tapas and assorted pub grub, as well as the usual suspects drinks wise, the Villager is the first port of call after big a day on the mountain. Fat Albert’s (Fatty’s to the locals) serves a range of local specialities and European staples. The nightclub upst...
