Location: where is Skarsnuten Apartments

· ski-in, ski-out access in good conditions · 500m from the nearest lift · 3km to ski school meeting point · 6km downhill to resort centre - free ski bus with a valid lift pass (this bus runs a limited service morning and evening - pass valid until 8-9pm most nights, small charge without a pass) · night skiing until 7.30pm (some nights) · taxis cost approx £25 to get between the hotel and Hemsedal town · there are some steep stairs within the hotel

Please note: Due to the location of this hotel, we don’t recommend it for complete beginners. The ski school is at the base area which will mean using the shuttle bus or taxi (approx £25) to get to there. It’s an easy run down from the hotel for intermediates but not complete beginners.

Overview: apartment description: Skarsnuten Apartments description

The Skarsnuten Apartments are a truly special place to stay. It really feels like you are in a luxury, secluded ski lodge - and that isn’t too far from the truth.

Perched at the top of the ski area, the apartments enjoy incredible views of the ski area. In the evenings, watch the sun set over the mountains from the hotel's bar and restaurant with its award winning chef serving traditional Norwegian cuisine and it's floor-to-ceiling windows.

Clip your skis on in the morning and you’re just a short walk - or ski in the right conditions - away from lifts F and J. You can’t beat that for access and, thanks to night skiing several times a week through some of the season, you can stay on the slopes until 7.30pm.

Getting to and from the village is easily accessible by a ski bus. While this does run a limited service in the morning and evenings, you’ll be pushed to want to leave this little mountain oasis.

Often hogging the title of Norway's greatest place to ski, this small resort with its trio of peaks has a lot going for it. The cragginess of the mountains here has earned them the nickname of the "Scandinavian Alps" - and it suits them.

Location-wise, you'll find Hemsedal between the big Norwegian cities of Oslo and Bergen. Oslo Lufthavn Gardemoen and Fagernes Airport Leirin are the two closest airports. The Nettbuss Express goes between the airport and the resort. Sentrum is the original village, with a collection of hotels, restaurants, lively bars and shops and a single blue run leading through the forest and back to the centre. There's also the Skisenter area (also known as the Mountain Village), where the accommodation, ski shops, ba...
One of our favourite features here is the huge children's area, which is kitted out with seven slopes, 8 lifts and a mini snow park. The Norwegian ski schools have a terrific reputation with learners and improvers - Valles ski school runs for children and there are separate group and private lessons for adults. Lovely long green runs take you from the top of the Totten and Tinden mountains – perfect for when it comes to getting your ski legs back at the beginning of the week. The Totten run is the longest in...
In Sentrum, Kjokken Kroken has a great gourmet menu featuring the likes of moose tartar and monkfish. It’s sister restaurant T-Kronen does insanely good burgers and milkshakes. You’ve also got China Garden for Chinese cuisine and the Lodgen Spiseri for pizzas in the Ski Centre. For lunches, head up to the Skigaarden for pizzas in the sunshine (and stay on for apres ski from 2pm). Later on, the Ski Centre’s Stavkroa club is built like a Viking church with high ceilings and has long tables ‘built to dance...
