Powder White have made it their mission to provide ski trips that are as flexible and personalised as possible. Operating ski chalets, hotels and apartments worldwide, their tagline is ‘Proven Expertise in Skiing Holidays Since 2003’ (meaning they’re no newbies to this mountain holiday malarkey).

The full collection of Powder White chalets, hotels, and apartments span an eye-openingly-enormous range of resorts in no less than 8 countries: France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Andorra, Spain, Canada and the United States. You can find everything from avant-garde apartments to ridiculously trad alpine cabins, laden with all kinds of antiques and artefacts.

These holidays are typically a week long with a weekend changeover day, but some of the Canada and US trips might be a tad longer, letting you make the most of the long-haul journey.

Some packages are on a catered basis, others are self-catered - more on that below. Flights aren’t included, but we can get your travel arranged at the drop of a hat - or you have the flexibility of sorting your own journey out.

Lift passes and ski equipment can be pre-booked and often it can be arranged for these to be ready in your accommodation when you get there, saving you from queuing on day one.

One thing that makes this company stand out from other operators is that they don’t tend to have ‘rep’ staff managing things around resort. If you prefer your trip to have a more independent, less package-holiday feel, this is just the ticket – property managers should still be readily available with any assistance or local knowledge you might need.

Powder White Chalets

Most of Powder White’s chalets are in Austria and France and sleep somewhere between 6 and 21 guests - whether you’re a small family or big group, there should be something to suit. For those all-important moments of relaxation, a lot of chalets have saunas and in a few cases, hot tubs or swimming pools.

These are usually available for exclusive use to give you the freedom of your own space, and quality time with your nearest and dearest. Sometimes it can be arranged so that different guests share one chalet for a sociable ski trip.

Your chalet managers should have some great tips on the resort's hot-spots and all kinds of other handy info. Their job’s to keep your home for the week clean and tidy, and get your meals on the table. While they usually come as a catered package, chalets can also be rented out on a self-catered basis if that’s what you need.

If you go for the catered option, here’s a rough idea what to expect: The daily dose of home cooked food would usually start with a choice of hot and cold breakfast options, then a mid-afternoon tea (or coffee) with a slice or two of freshly baked cake. A bit later on, hosts will usually crack out the canapés before your 3-course evening meal is served - think hearty and flavoursome food like chicken and leek casserole and apple crumble with custard. Wine is included too, and it’s all been taste-tested at altitude to make sure it’s just right. A final note for all you cheese lovers: usually on a couple of evenings, for that extra dose of indulgence, a board of cheeses and biscuits will be served after the evening meal. One night during the week, the hosts will have a night off, so you’ll have the chance to dine out at a local restaurant.

Anyone planning a trip with young children can filter this page to see the most family friendly chalets – these might have bigger rooms with space for extra beds, or equipment such as high chairs. Although Powder White don’t provide their own childcare, there will almost always be local companies who can help out and we’ll happily provide further tips on that front.

This operator have an ever-growing inventory of apartments on offer across resorts with epic skiing. You’ll find smart accommodation to match a range of budgets and group sizes, as apartments sleep from a couple, up to a dozen guests. Some have private facilities like saunas or hot tubs, and others have access to wellness facilities shared with guests in neighbouring apartments – a pool or gym might even be thrown into the mix towards the upper end of the scale.

As the properties are picked with keen skiers in mind, they nab some top-notch locations, convenient when it comes to skiing and apres-ski. Some apartment buildings even have their own bars and restaurants meaning you won’t even need to put your coat on to get a drink or snack. There are a whole range of ways to sort your nosh: eating out, cooking your own delights, taking it in turns with friends in the group (Masterchef-style cooking competitions maybe?!) or ordering a takeaway – whatever best suits you.

It’s often a case of saving in numbers here, as groups of 8 or more can often get a decent discount on chalets.

In past years, this operator has thrown a January sale, so there may be price reductions on January bookings (which happens to be one of the best months for skiing). Packages are also sometimes discounted to fill rooms when the departure date is just around the corner.
