Overview: hotel description: Hotel Village Montana description

NB: This is a "family" hotel, so all bookings must include at least one child or teenager.

Hotel Village Montana is one of the top hotels in Tignes with good facilities and reviews. It‘s part of the complex which includes Village Montana Apartments, located in the area of Les Almes, on an elevated position above Tignes Le Lac with easy access to the skiing and the childcare in the resort.

The hotel is family friendly with bedrooms sleeping up to four with two separate sleeping areas. There is also a free playroom and Kids' club for children aged 3 to 10 years, open 5.15-9pm in the French School Holidays.

From the hotel it's an easy ski down to the Almes chairlift or on to the Palafour chairlift or Tovière gondola in the centre of Tignes le Lac and the ski school meeting place. Otherwise it is a 4 minutes' walk. Sprite Ski classes will meet here or at the Meeting Point in the Evolution 2 HQ just by Chalet Corniche, a few minutes' walk on from here. This is where the Snow Club is based and parents collect the children from here with the usual signing in and signing out procedures.

In the mornings children in Sprite and Spritelet classes are signed-in with the staff at the hotel. Improvers and above will ski down with an instructor to the ski school meeting place whilst beginners and Spritelets will be taken down in a minibus.

The Spa des Bains de Montana is included at the hotel with its outdoor heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool. There is also a relaxation room and herbal teas available and a pool towel service is included.

There is a bar and lounge with fireplace at the hotel and well as the restaurant where all meals are taken.

There is a local visitors' tax (taxe de sejour) payable locally approx €2.50 per person per day (from age 18 years).

Espace Killy ski area Fantastic après ski High altitude skiing

Tignes is somewhere you can ski longer, higher and further than most other resorts in the Alps. Owing its snow-reliability to the Grande Motte glacier, the local ski area is joined with Val d’Isere’s to form the mammoth Espace Killy - intermediates will have a whale of a time here. Choose between 5 different villages, whether your priority is convenience, cosiness or cheap accommodation. Tignes also has one of the most famous New Year parties in the Alps.

Tignes ski resort (pronounce it 'Teens') is one half of the stunning Espace Killy, one of the biggest linked ski areas in France. Because of its high-altitude terrain and access to the Grande Motte glacier, the resort is open both earlier and later in the season than many others and often the lifts are running for short periods of summer skiing. Predominantly purpose built, the resort itself is divided into 5 villages, each different in its own way but all well linked by lifts and bus services. The main area...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...
