Overview: hotel description: Hotel St Martin description

The best things come in small packages, and that’s definitely true of the Hotel St Martin in the quiet St Martin de Belleville. This small, high-quality boutique hotel, managed by Mr and Mrs Olive, is in an ideal location. You can access the amazing skiing in the humungous Three Valleys via the St Martin 1 lift – just metres from the hotel – and enjoy the tranquillity of one of the ski area’s more petite villages.

The St Martin also has a great location on the piste, meaning you can pop your skis on each morning and click them off at the doors at the end of the day. If you feel a bit peckish around midday, then head back for a spot of lunch at the onsite à la carte restaurant, Le Grenier. It has great local specialities and even better views of the surrounding mountains.

The interiors are pretty pleasing, too. Each bedroom is decorated in a typical Savoyard style, with wood dominating the décor. There are also some lovely personal touches, like velvety throws at the end of each bed.

The sophisticated design continues downstairs in the dining room – the venue for your daily half-board meals. Known for its gourmet menu and sophisticated setting, you’re bound to feel like you’re eating at an award-winning fine-dining restaurant. The cosy, alpine-style bar isn’t a bad place to spend an evening, either. It serves up waffles, pastries and hot chocolate for an extra charge – perfect for satisfying that sweet tooth.

If you’re one who enjoys a bit of pampering, then make sure you take advantage of the sauna and steam room. You could even enrol the little ones in the hotel-run kids’ club so you can really enjoy some downtime.

If you’re looking for serious charm, you’ll find St. Martin is the easily most quaint, idyllic and traditionally French resort in the 3 Valleys which has upheld the character of its history dating back to as early as the sixteenth century. The pretty old parish church in the centre and seventeenth century Notre Dame de la Vie sanctuary on the outskirts are striking monuments to the village’s heritage and instead of bulky hotels you’ll find chalets converted from old farm buildings. This picturesque litt...
As part of the largest ski resort in the world, naturally the skiing potential is ginormous (and the views are stunning too). There’s a nursery area at the foot of the village which features a free lift for the benefit of first timers. Ski lessons with English-speaking instructors are available to book for ages 3 years and up. Beginners can then try out the wide blue runs above the village like the ‘Biolley’ down from the first gondola. Intermediates are beyond spoilt for choice here, with a humongous ...
Kick off après in Le Dahlia at the bottom of the lifts with a great choice of beverages, from beers to mulled wine - they also screen international sports games. L'Eterlou at the foot of the lifts and The Joker Bar in the centre are good alternatives for a cheeky drink or two at happy hour. Looking for a classy way to relax? Warm up by the fire in the modern Porquoi Pas and try a bottle from their wine cellar. The star attraction of the restaurants here is the two Michelin starred La Bouitte where you can en...
