Overview: hotel description: Hotel Lohmann description

With fantastic facilities for kids and hotel-run childcare, family ski trips are sorted at the Hotel Lohman. There’s a fresh, modern feel inside and when it’s time to click into your skis, the nearest lift is a few minutes' away.

Each day starts with a big breakfast spread so you can have something different each day, from scrambled eggs to stacks of fresh pancakes. Skiing definitely works up an appetite, so don’t miss the afternoon tea for a well-earned coffee and cake. And in the evening, you can fill up on your favourites or try different local specialities, along with unlimited beer, house wine and soft drinks.

When it comes to extras, there’s plenty of bang for your buck here. The kids' playroom is bound to be a hit with its slide, trampoline, climbing wall and ball pit. And the hotel-run childcare’s excellent too, with English-speaking staff who have plenty of crafts, games and songs up their sleeves – they’ll even drop them off at ski school and pick them up again after. While they’re having fun, make the most of your adults-only downtime and enjoy an après cocktail in the bar or head down to the spa to indulge in a massage.

This traditional mountain village sits at a high 1930m in Austria’s Oztal valley. Obergurgl is renowned as a snow sure resort with some of Austria’s highest altitudes, making it well worth a visit if you’re travelling particularly early or late in the season. Scattered with upmarket accommodation, the village itself blends a luxury touch with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It has a vibrant character, and alpine charm with many a Tyrolean tradition found in the town and on the mountains in popular slope...
Many highly regarded ski schools are on hand for beginners – there's a gentle learning slope at the resort for picking up the basics. A mini club and ski kindergarten are available at the Obergurgl Ski School where skiing is taught in a fun and safe environment for little ones just starting. The Top-express Gondola takes you to Hochgurgl's higher altitudes. Wide pistes and amazing snow make this the perfect area for progressing beginners to test their abilities. After steadying those legs, work your way up t...
The après starts on the mountains where there are many bars ready to serve skiers that well-deserved pick me up of warm glühwein. The skis come off at the lively Nederhütte, just above the resort, where merry skiers mingle with drinks accompanied by live music before getting up on the tables when the real party starts. The gondola next to the bar will take those a little unsteady on their skis back to the resort - when these close, skidoos run everyone back to base. Hohe Mut is another favourite amongst sk...

"Brilliant if you have kids, average if you don’t"

Chris, Greater London

A wonderful week – we had the biggest room I’ve ever been in, it was huge, with a massive TV, a little dining area and a sofa area. The whole hotel is very, very good for children, with little slides all over the place from floor to floor. They have a fantastic kids club from 4-8 with lots of stuff on, from snowman making to cake making. My son was a bit old for this, but we plan to bring my daughter next year. The food wasn’t brilliant but it was OK; a buffet of meals that children would like. They had free drinks at the bar including a free tap where you can help yourself to beer. The staff were nice enough. The Lohmann is 150m from the kids ski school and from there you can be up on the slopes.
