Location: where is Hotel La Foret

Hotel La Foret is in a quiet area in Val d’Isère, a short walk from the L’Olympique gondola. If you don’t feel like walking for 8 minutes though, then you can jump on the yellow bus all the way down to the lift. This gondola is your best link to Tignes and lots of exhilarating runs in the Espace Killy ski area. Whatever your ski ability, you’re able to get back down to the bottom of the mountain, too. From the Rocher de Bellevarde, experts can traverse their way down the black Face de Bellevarde, while intermediates might prefer the Joseray red or Santons blue runs. If you’ve had enough though, then you can simply catch the L’Olympique back down again. When the sun goes down, head out into the centre of town – less than 10 minutes away – for a range of restaurants including Flash Pizza and Arctic Café.

Overview: hotel description: Hotel La Foret description

The Hotel La Foret is a charismatic hotel in Val d’Isère, just a few minutes from all the mountain and resort amenities.

The most important part of Langley’s concept is excellent food, and they really shine brightly at La Foret. The breakfasts and inviting and plentiful, while the 3-course evening meals are locally inspired and made with locally sourced ingredients. Cheers your meal to a glass of local or international wine, too, and you’ll end your day feeling more than satisfied.

These rooms are built in a classic Alpine style and can sleep between two and four people. Most rooms also have balconies so you can enjoy lovely views of the surrounding mountains.

If wrapping up to go outside in the evening doesn’t sound very appealing, then grab and drink and snuggle down in the cosy, cottage-like lounge, where the armchairs and sofas are strewn with cushions and blankets. For some extra pampering, head down to the wellness space where you can relax in the sauna or feel warm, bubbling waters massage your skin from the whirlpool.

Last, but definitely not least, is the service. Langley is known for its highly professional yet friendly staff who are always willing make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...

"Superb food, good customer service"

The hotel has recently been taken over by a Swedish company and all the staff were very customer focused, really polite and friendly. It’s not completely new, it’s a refurbished hotel so be aware of that, but it’s regularly cleaned. Bedroom – it’s not a 5* hotel and the room was quite small but it was nicely decorated with all we needed. It was so nice having the ski shop down below. We arrived, dumped our stuff and the guys sorted us out with skis straight away. If you needed anything done in the week you could just pop down. They had a locker there which was useful too, and it was on the ground floor by reception rather than in a basement which was useful. The food was superb, they had a proper chef rather than some kid cooking like you get in some chalets. We had a 3 course menu each night of nicely presented modern cuisine and the wine menu was decent too. They did dinner in 2 sessions and there were only 32 beds in the hotel, so the dining room wasn’t massive and catered for just the right amount of people. We always had candles on the table so it was a real dining experience instead of just eating. It was really nice to come back from skiing, go for a few drinks and than have a proper meal before retiring for the night. The bar was nice and had a happy hour every night where drinks were 2 for 1. Generally the staff were really helpful. The location wouldn’t be a problem for a young person, but it was a wee bit of a distance for me (whilst still being fairly central) as it took a good ten minutes to walk to the main slopes – although this wouldn’t put me off booking it again. You could walk down the hill and get the bus which made things much easier. If you’re new to the resort or want to engage with other people, the hotel do lots of trips and picnics that you can get involved with.
