It’s not an Olde Worlde hotel (and I quite like traditional hotels) but everything was very clean. We had a fantastic week. The Brunerie is good as it’s fairly close to the main lifts and lessons were only a 5-10 minute walk away. There’s also a really good bar called Le Windsor across the road. We enjoyed the food and the eating arrangements worked very well for a big party - they put us on the mezzanine ... + more

It’s basic accommodation but it was good. Everything was warm and clean which is what’s important and it had a nice atmosphere to come back to at the end of the day. The manager had everything running so well and efficiently, he knew people wanted to get out to the ski slopes and made sure everything ran on ... + more

I would suggest improving the wi-fi in the rooms. Having 2 kids with me meant I would have liked the hotel closer to the ski-hire / lifts but it was OK. The hotel seemed to have either families with young children or people in their 50s on a budget ski holiday, so maybe that's the market(s) to aim for. Hote... + more

The hotel was very good, the staff seemed friendly and it was nice for the kids as there’s a pool. I liked the food and they happily cooked the baked beans we bought for my son as that’s his favourite thing to eat. The hotel was OK – the only thing that lets it down is that it’s all a bit tired, the gymnasium, table tennis and pool area were very tired, there’s a jacuzzi which was the same temperature as the pool, so there was no point using it really. The sauna wasn’t bad but it wasn’t open all the time (but I suppo... + more

Glacier Skiing Top après Lots of activities

Spectacular views of Mont Blanc aren’t the only bonus of the glacier - this ‘upside down’ ski resort is one of the most snow-sure in the Alps, so much so that you can ski here in the summertime. Much loved for its après ski, the town's main strip is bursting with some of the best bars in the mountains.

Grenoble is the closest airport with a transfer time of just under 2 hours, making the resort accessible by road. The resort was first used for skiing as early as 1925 when the first ski tow was built. The “Les Deux Alpes”, as we know it today, was established in 1946. It is commonly assumed that the name is derived from the two mountains on either side of the town when in reality the name stems from the two villages on either side of the settlement: Mont De Lans and Venosc. The resort is compact, and you’...
There are plenty of beginner slopes on the front face with runs like les Vikings and Les Gentianes for those learning to ski. The great thing about Les Deux Alpes is that there are some terrific beginner slopes higher up the mountain so new skiers can experience the benefits of skiing at altitude. The Cretes area at 2100m is the favourite spot for ski schools, with the ski escalator a welcome aid to those learning to ski. The run home at the end of the day used to have a fearsome reputation for being overcrowded...
You don’t have to look far to find good après in Les Deux Alpes. One of the best bars in resort is Pano bar, this slopeside restaurant, based at 2,600m comes alive at happy hour between 3 pm and 5 pm every day with discounted drinks and a DJ set that will vibrate through your whole body. At the bottom of the piste, Umbrella bar is a great place to keep the party going. If you want to take the night further then Smithy’s is the place to go, with great modern music as well as live entertainment on several night...

"Central hotel with nice balcony room"

It’s not an Olde Worlde hotel (and I quite like traditional hotels) but everything was very clean. The food was very good, we ski quite a lot but haven’t been to a place where you could choose between going in and serving yourself (if you didn’t want to wait) or being served from the table. It worked quite well for us as if we wanted to be the first people down to dinner we could just go and get what we wanted – it was all set out really nicely. We liked the little room with the bar as it was nice and social, plus you get free wine! Another good thing was that we had one of the front rooms which had a balcony where you could stand and look over the slopes at the people skiing (it was opposite the children’s area). As well as near the nursery area, you’re also really near the main slopes - literally 5 minutes – and right in the high street with everything nearby.

We had a fantastic week. The Brunerie is good as it’s fairly close to the main lifts and lessons were only a 5-10 minute walk away. There’s also a really good bar called Le Windsor across the road. We enjoyed the food and the eating arrangements worked very well for a big party - they put us on the mezzanine level of the dining room so we could all stay together which was quite handy. It was nice to have one waiter attending to us all week as it meant we got to know him quite well. The rooms were fine, they were a bit more basic than we were expecting but we weren’t ever in them for a long time and on the plus side the bathrooms were all really nice. The hotel has a lovely bar area which was a great place for us to gather as a big group and made the stay very sociable. In terms of facilities, the boot room was fine but the pool are let the hotel down. We used both the swimming pool and sauna, but both were small and the pool wasn’t overly warm.

It’s basic accommodation but it was good. Everything was warm and clean which is what’s important and it had a nice atmosphere to come back to at the end of the day. The manager had everything running so well and efficiently, he knew people wanted to get out to the ski slopes and made sure everything ran on time. Even on the last day, he was up at 2am getting breakfast ready for everyone. We liked the bar and it was all included in the price which makes things easy. The food was good and we didn’t end up eating out at all (we’d heard it was expensive anyway), the choice at the buffet was endless and everything was excellent. Loc was fine, we struggled taking our skis back to the hotel and ended up paying for them to be left at the shop which made things a lot simpler. If I had one negative, it would be that the swimming pool was a bit cold for our liking, you couldn’t really warm up there after coming in from skiing but I think that’s pretty standard in France.

The hotel seemed to have either families with young children or people in their 50s on a budget ski holiday, so maybe that's the market(s) to aim for. Hotel was good - food, rooms, apres-ski activities, jucuzzi/swimming pool and service were all very good.

The hotel was very good, the staff seemed friendly and it was nice for the kids as there’s a pool. I liked the food and they happily cooked the baked beans we bought for my son as that’s his favourite thing to eat. We had a family room with 2 bunk beds and a separate part for us and there was definitely enough room for everyone and all the ski gear. The location is only a little walk from ski slopes and shops etc, and if you’re a decent skier you can ski to the front of the hotel. The only thing that might be worth noting is that the chap who ran the hotel didn’t want people who had hired skis from the ski shop to use the lockers and said to leave them in the shop (something to do with insurance).

"Bit tired but overall fine, would book again"

The hotel was OK – the only thing that lets it down is that it’s all a bit tired, the gymnasium, table tennis and pool area were very tired, there’s a jacuzzi which was the same temperature as the pool, so there was no point using it really. The sauna wasn’t bad but it wasn’t open all the time (but I suppose you could say that these are added extras which are nice to have anyway). The dining room was nice although it could be cold as there are some big doors that open out which you get a bit of cold air from. My room was fine, the sliding door of the wardrobe kept falling off but it was quite a nice sized room. Breakfast was a buffet where you helped yourself, it was a bit repetitive in that it was always scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, croissants etc (the scrambled egg was a little wet for my liking, I prefer it dry, but that’s just me!). Dinner was a variation of main courses and you helped yourself to starters and sweet. The staff were very attentive and were always standing around waiting for you and asking if you wanted anything. It’s a small walk to the ski shop (3-5 minutes at most) and then another short walk from the shop to the lifts. The ski bus is right outside the shop and to walk to the old part of town takes about 15 minutes. Overall, if I was to book another holiday, I wouldn’t say no to staying here again.
