Overview: hotel description: Hotel Kramerwirt description

Hotel Kramerwirt was the village inn nearly 400 years ago (it's been renovated since then) and it still feels traditionally Tirolean with its wood-lined walls and carvings. The bar area is still popular too and a great place to grab a well-earned drink whilst listening to the occasional live music.

You'll find the best views of the resort and mountains from the rooftop spa. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of skiing or boarding. There are also saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs you can use for a local charge.

You'll find the hotel just off Mayrhofen's main high street. There's a ski bus stop on the doorstep which will take you to the lifts, or it's about a ten-minute walk from the hotel is the ultra-modern high speed Penken gondola. From here you have access to great snow and over 500kms of pistes.

Families: Hotel Kramerwirt for children

The playroom is great for kids. It has plenty of toys, drawing and painting supplies. Older ones can play board games and the restaurant has a children's menu and you can rent high chairs, cribs and baby carriers to save you bringing them with you.

The rooftop spa is quite a special place. The views extend out across the resort and up to the towering, snow-capped peaks. The facilities include a steam room, relaxation areas, hot tub and saunas. As you're on holiday, take advantage of the massage and beauty treatments that are available.

There's is a local charge to use the wellness facilities and treatments, but you can book and pay for them locally.

Meals: Hotel Kramerwirt food & drink

The half board here gives you a hot and cold buffet breakfast and the evening meal is four courses with three choices of main and a salad buffet. If you book over Christmas or New Year, the dining areas are full of festive decorations, gala dinners are included and there is live music.

The restaurant has different dining areas so you can choose to eat in the cosy, rustic lounges or in bright, open spaces with large windows. Most tastes are catered for and the family often serves produce from the family farm, fishery and hunting grounds.

We update Hotel Kramerwirt's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

"Excellent hotel with character"

Mrs Maples, London
5/ out of 5
The Kramerwirt had lots of character and we all had a thoroughly good time. The food was excellent and the staff all frightfully nice people. You can walk around at the top and I came across a wonderful little children’s area with a train. You have to get a bus to the slopes if you’re in ski boots so it’s slightly less convenient than a French ski in, ski out hotel. It’s very central in the village however and we had a lovely room in the main building that looked onto the old church (which does have bells but they don’t ring all night). Three of our party stayed in the annexe as the rooms were a bit smaller and cheaper. I’ve also heard that the annexe is good for families as it has interconnecting rooms.

The hotel was awesome, everyone said we’d lucked out! We weren’t expecting particularly good food as we’ve found Austria pretty hit and miss in the past but the food and service were fantastic. Our rooms were also good and in terms of reaching the slopes, there was a bus stop outside and it was a short walk into town. The only downside was that we didn’t get round to using the spa because they use it the Austrian way… Someone joked that they’d only rate the hotel a 4.5/5 because one morning they were greeted with a ‘morning’ rather than a ‘good morning’, which just shows you how great a place it is!

"Lovely week overall"

We liked the accommodation; it wasn’t ritzy but it was fine. We thought the food was adequate; the breakfasts and dinners were rather samey which resulted in us eating out a few times – when you have teenagers all they want is pizza, steak and chips. If we stayed again I probably wouldn’t book half board again and instead opt to eat out. Mayrhofen is good value for money and the town is hopping in the evenings so it’s not a problem finding places to eat. The food was the only slight - other than that our week was fantastic.

"Brilliant hotel, but busy resort over New Year"

The Kramerwirt was brilliant, we were very happy with the food (although for our vegetarian friends, the menu was a bit poor) and the waitress who’d worked there for a long time was fantastic. Overall the service was really good – staff were always very helpful and bent over backwards to give us a good holiday. Some of our party were unwell and they were very accommodating and obliging. We stayed over New Year and they put on a live band which was nice and there were also fireworks in the local square. We wouldn’t go back to Mayrhofen at this time of year again though - the lift queues were very long, sometimes taking up to an hour. The hotel itself however was very good.
