Overview: hotel description: Hotel Gran Baita description

A laid-back stay packed with authentic mountain charm – that’s the Hotel Gran Baita. When it’s time to hit the slopes, your nearest lift is a 5-minute walk away. And if you do fancy some action in the evening, you can stroll to the resort centre in a couple of minutes.

Staying in? Snuggle up in the lounge with its squishy sofas and open fireplace, or pay a little extra to use the spa area and cap off the day with some sauna time.

Upstairs, the bedrooms are decked out with bedspreads, curtains and carpets in tones of green, yellow or red – and plenty of soft lighting makes them an inviting place to lay your head.

You’re staying half board here, so breakfast and dinners are sorted. There’s a hot and cold buffet to start the day, and each evening, the restaurant serves up three courses of Italian specialities, from filled pasta to polenta stews.

Tree-lined plateaus, wide lengths of varied terrain and beautiful scenery make up the skiing here. Beginners will find the nursery slopes at the foot of the Clotes chair, and the lift takes you to the main ski area at Sportina where lessons also take place. You don't have to conquer the lift process before even having the snow under your skis - regular shuttle buses provide an easy ride for beginners to get out on to the piste. After acing the ski lift, take the chair up to blue 42, connecting to number 30 for a...
Infamously known as the best resort for après ski in the Italian Alps, there's something for everyone here, from chilled-out cocktail bars to cosy balcony cafés and lively party places. Having disposed of its previous branding as the Ibiza on the slopes, the resort has a much more refined feel, whilst maintaining the dynamic après atmosphere. "friendly staff and only one minute from the centre of town"

Steffan Bartmanski, London
5/ out of 5
A great place. For a 3 star hotel it had everything we needed – a good sleep and good food. It’s a hotel for relaxed people, like being at home. It was perfect for its purpose. The staff were very friendly, always there for me, not only for requests but also for a chat. I think the owner is an ex-professional skier; there were lots of photos around the hotel of ski competitions. I chatted with him and the other staff every night, the whole team was very friendly. The location is another big positive. It’s only one minute from the centre and the lifts are about 5 minutes’ walk. The short walk is a good warm up before skiing!
