The family-run Hotel Gornergrat Dorf is one of the oldest hotels in Zermatt, with more than 100 years of hospitality.
It sits slap-bang in the middle of Zermatt, just steps from the train station and the Gornergrat chairlift. Its entrance is located on the Bahnhofstrasse – the resort’s main street – meaning you’re never far from a restaurant, bar or shop either.
Cosy bedrooms are simply decorated and come with balconies and views of the Matterhorn in the south or the Mischabel mountains in the north.
You get half-board meals included at the Gornergrat Dorf, which are served in the hotel restaurant. You’ll get your pick of a rich buffet breakfast – from croissants to omelettes – each morning, and 4-course sit-down meals in the evenings. Once a week you can also tuck in to authentic Swiss dishes like raclette or fondue.
If you fancy a mid-morning snack or are feeling peckish at lunch, head to the hotel’s bistro. Its floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto the Bahnhofstrasse, making it the ideal place to enjoy a coffee while watching the world go by.
