Overview: hotel description: Hotel Diva, Tignes Val Claret description

For a great location in Val Claret, the Diva is hard to beat. It’s opposite the Tichot chairlift and just a few minutes’ walk from the funicular up to the Grande Motte glacier, and you can ski almost back to the door on a red or blue run. Once you're done, sit on the terrace to look out over the slopes, or head to the Irish pub to party 'til late.

The hotel itself is a simple, no-fuss place, with traditional stone and pops of red from the carpets and cushions. There’s a big lounge and bar when you can kick back in the evenings, or get your zen on in the sauna and steam room instead.

Meals are served buffet style, so fill up your plate and grab a spot next to the window to enjoy mountain views while you eat. You’ll even get unlimited house wine included with your evening meals.

Espace Killy ski area Fantastic après ski High altitude skiing

Tignes is somewhere you can ski longer, higher and further than most other resorts in the Alps. Owing its snow-reliability to the Grande Motte glacier, the local ski area is joined with Val d’Isere’s to form the mammoth Espace Killy - intermediates will have a whale of a time here. Choose between 5 different villages, whether your priority is convenience, cosiness or cheap accommodation. Tignes also has one of the most famous New Year parties in the Alps.

Tignes ski resort (pronounce it 'Teens') is one half of the stunning Espace Killy, one of the biggest linked ski areas in France. Because of its high-altitude terrain and access to the Grande Motte glacier, the resort is open both earlier and later in the season than many others and often the lifts are running for short periods of summer skiing. Predominantly purpose built, the resort itself is divided into 5 villages, each different in its own way but all well linked by lifts and bus services. The main area...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...

"Exceptional food"

We had a very good deal at the Diva through SNO. The hotel is very convenient as it’s really close to the lifts and we found that the Val Claret area is definitely the best compared to Le Lac. The rooms are OK, nothing to get excited about but adequate if you just want somewhere to sleep. We had a standard double with an en-suite and a balcony that looked out onto the slopes. The facilities included a sauna, gym and bar with plenty of room to sit. The check in was a bit of a pain as the whole process was quite slow. The food was absolutely outstanding – I’d go back just for the food. It was astonishing what was on offer. You had a huge buffet with the evening meal which included a salad bar, starters, a choice of mains and about 20 different desserts - everything was exceptional.

It did the trick, it’s not complete luxury but it was all we wanted and I’d recommend the hotel to others. The food was fine, if anything there was a bit too much and it was quite rich for my liking, but the service and variety of dishes was good. We sat at the bar quite a lot and the hotel has a sauna but we didn’t use it. No probems with the rooms, everyone had enough storage etc. We weren’t expecting a rep but they were quite helpful and it was good to be advised. Transfers were long but you can’t do anything about that. Enjoyed skiing in Tignes and would probably go back.
