Young skiers will love Borokids Park, where the magic carpet helps them get to grips with the snow. Ski lessons can be booked with one of the local ski schools like Hunters and Yanakiev and the Sitnyakovo Royal Residence Ski Way’s wide, gentle slope for some cruisey confidence building. Each of the 3 ski areas offers intermediates something a little different. The Yastrebetz is home to long winding slopes, including the lengthy Yastrebetz 1, which snakes its way through pine trees back to the resort. Ventu...
Despite Bansko’s up and coming popularity, Borovets remains the party capital of Bulgarian ski resorts, with vibrant nightlife guaranteed as soon as you’re off the slopes. The ever-friendly bar hosts at places like Bobby’s and Samokov offer unbelievably cheap local beer, and once the Bulgarian Rakia shots start flowing, you’ll understand why people are back in Borovets year after year. Borovets is far from just another ‘lads holiday’ ski destination. Instead, the country’s oldest ski resort lets a li...

"Cheep and cheerful in a good location"

Dave, Bristol
3/ out of 5
It’s cheap and cheerful, definitely at the bargain end of the market so we didn’t have high expectations. We were really close to the gondola that goes up to the top and to get to the chairlift wasn’t very far, only about 5 minutes. The hire shops would take all skis and boots at the end of the day if you wanted them to, so you didn’t have to trudge through town with boots. The food wasn’t great - a bit samey, lukewarm and not much but warm stew if you’re a vegetarian. We went out to a few local restaurants which were good and the food on the slopes was great (and obviously dead cheap compared to France). The people who worked there were friendly enough, we had quite a few kids in the party and the staff didn’t make a fuss about them coming and going. The rooms were fine and we had no trouble with noise. Everything was clean and worked as it should and the beds and showers were fine.

"Basic accommodation but we all had a great week"

The hotel is right in the centre, really close to the ski lifts (a 5 minute walk) so you’re in a brilliant location. The rooms are totally basic but warm and comfortable. The decor is a bit dated but everything works, the showers were all good. The ski place was fine and you could get massages if you wanted to book them. There was also a little bar and you’re right opposite one of the main bars in the resort.
