· across the road from the shores of Lake Tahoe on Lake Tahoe Boulevard · 12 minutes' bus ride to the Heavenly gondola · 2 minutes' walk to the bus stop
In amongst towering Jeffrey pine trees, and just across the road from the shimmering shores of Lake Tahoe, is Hotel Azure. This contemporary mountain retreat is a great central base for exploring the California-Nevada mountains, South Lake Tahoe’s bustling shops and restaurants and the lively Nevada casinos.
The bedrooms at the hotel have a sophisticated feel, with dark-wood panelling complemented by soft, neutral furnishings. The beds are amazing, too, having you off to the land of nod in no time.
It wouldn’t be a winter holiday without the steaming waters of a heated outdoor pool. And, at Azure, you won’t be disappointed. As well as their signature swimming pool, there’s also a two-tiered hot tub, perfect for unwinding after a full day up on the mountain.
If you can’t get enough of being in the snow, then Hotel Azure can satisfy your hunger with free snowshoe hire for up to two hours. However, if the outside has got a bit too much, then Tahoe Bowl, adjacent to the hotel, is the best place to spend the evening with family or friends – there’s 16 bowling lanes, a sports bar and a diner.
And just so you know, the hotel is dog-friendly, so don’t be surprised if you see lots of snowy pups about.
