Location: where is Haus Hochkar

A short glide on skis from the lifts, kindergarten, ski school and nursery slopes, a 250m walk from the ski shop, bars and restaurants in Nasserein and a 10 minute stroll into the heart of St Anton.

Overview: chalet description: Haus Hochkar description

Haus Hochkar and neighbour, Haus Gamskar, are ruthlessly engineered for the skier and a short glide on skis to the lifts and nursery slopes at Nasserein. St Anton chalets which allow for skiing directly from the door are few and far between.

Haus Hochkar and Gamskar have been carefully engineered and ruthlessly tailored to gratify the contemporary skier. No Alpine kitsch here, just straight-lines, comfort and space. Spacious bedrooms, smart contemporary bathrooms (with heated walls behind the towel rails … clever), an outsized living area and buckets of hot water.

The infamous Tom Dooley's Bar is next door but one, the bars and restaurants of Nasserein are a quick toboggan ride or few hundred yard walk away and the pulsating roar of central St Anton nightlife is a ten minute stroll. Fabulous for families and those who like the click click of bindings a few steps from the front door. These are the ultimate luxury chalets in St Anton, we're sure of that.

The rooms in Haus Hochkar are identical to those in Haus Gamskar. The additonal fifth bedroom means this chalet can sleep 10 - 11 guests. All rooms can be made up as Twin or Double beds and there is an additional single bed charged at half the adult price.

Meals: Haus Hochkar food & drink

Our Executive Chef is passionate about food and hugely sensitive to the appetite of a hungry skier whilst considering a balanced diet. The new and refined menus are heavy enough to reward mountain exertion yet light and simple enough to leave you grinning not groaning.

All our catered ski holidays include;

  • Continental breakfast with a cooked option on 6 mornings
  • Afternoon tea will be left in the chalet for you to help yourself to freshly made cake or biscuits, bread & jams, selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate
  • Canapés on the first and last evening
  • 3 course evening meal (6 nights) followed by cheese board and coffee
  • A choice of red and white wine is served throughout dinner
We update Haus Hochkar's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. There's a nurs...
The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...

We have all been made to feel so welcome and looked after by Kirsty and Alisdair in the Hochlar chalet. The 7.30am cup of tea was a particular highlight, as well as the high standard of gourmet food that we all enjoyed throughout the week. Tim kept a careful eye on us and nothing was ever too much trouble. The accommodation was perfect. Our only complaint was that the towels were on the small side.

Such a welcoming and enjoyable week for our holiday-we hope it was the same for our chalet hosts too! Excellent food followed by excellent hospitality, Kirsty and Ali will be at the top of their game by mid season, let alone their first week! Comfy warm chalet however as the chalet is newly built you would expect minor details such as multiple towel rails in shower rooms and surround sound speakers in the living area.
