- Haus Gurgl description
Haus Gurgl is a stylishly modern hotel in the lively resort of Obergurgl. This family-run hotel offers high standards throughout, from the rooms to the restaurant.
The location couldn’t be better – just step out the ski room door, feet toasty thanks to the heated boot warmers, clip into your skis and cruise less than 100m to the Wiesenlift drag lift. At the top, it’s a short ski down a blue run to the Festkoglbahn gondola, your gateway to the whole of the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl area. The ski school meets just by the drag lift too, and buses also stop right outside the hotel to take you to the Festkoglbahn, Hochgurgl and Sölden.
But the Gurgl has much more to offer than just a fantastic location. The traditional chalet-style façade hides a contemporary interior with plenty of luxury touches. Spacious rooms are available in both wings of the hotel, and vary between classic and more modern décor. Plush beds will ensure you get a good night’s sleep, and many rooms also have a balcony.
The restaurant is another highlight. The design is Austrian tradition meets modern elegance, and the food is just as enticing. Choose from a wide range of fare at breakfast to fuel you up for the day, and make sure you’re back between 3 and 5pm to indulge in delicious homemade cakes. But save some room for dinner – you’ll be spoilt for choice with four courses of Austrian and international cuisine.
If you’re around the hotel at lunchtime, pop into the Belmonte Pizzeria to feast on wood-fired pizzas or fresh pasta, rounded off with homemade tiramisu, or grab something to take away.
And if all that food hasn’t put you to sleep, head to the Verwall Gletscher Spa. Here you’ll find 300m² of wellness facilities including Finnish and herbal saunas, a salt steam bath, an infrared cabin and a relaxation area, along with a menu of soothing massages and beauty treatments.
The Haus Gurgl is non-smoking throughout.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.
