Overview: hotel description: Familotel description

This slope-side hotel is tucked away from busy main roads and is only 5minutes’ walk to the centre of Hopfgarten. It’s a homely affair with simple white walls and wood cladding, that matches the rest of this traditional village.

Overlooking the magic carpet and children’s nursery slope, this hotel has been designed with families in mind. Inside the decoration is bright and modern, with colourful cartoon characters livening up the bedroom walls. There’s an onsite kid’s club, games room and nursery with hotel-run childcare for the little ones. As well as lots of other little touches like pushchairs, baby monitors and games that are free to hire, helping you make winter trips with the family a breeze.

The grownups haven’t been forgotten either. While the kids are having fun you can unwind with a drink in the cocktail bar, or head to the sauna for some relaxing me-time. If your youngsters want some pampering too, then the Cinderella Spa has a range of treatments just for younger guests and teenagers.

Down in the dining room, there’s a buffet-style banquet, so everyone can fill their plates with all their favourites – everything from Austrian specialities to international classics. There’s also a selection of dishes just for the children even a corner with baby food for the tiniest diners.

With narrow cobbled streets winding their way around chalet-style buildings and a magnificent baroque church, you'd be forgiven for thinking that you'd stumbled into an Austrian-themed Christmas card in this old Tyrolean market town. In actual fact, you're in the middle of the mammoth SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental - the largest lift linked ski area in the country, connecting the village to the better-known resort of Söll and 6 other resorts besides. Access is via a cable car from the town centre, which ...
The local skiing here is best suited to intermediates but with access across the SkiWelt circuit, stronger skiers can cover a lot of mountainside. First-timers are well accommodated on the gentle nursery slopes by the village. If you love cruising the blues, take piste 27 which is a gorgeous, gentle run through the trees. Those craving lengthy descents will be in their element as Hopfgarten has some the longest downhill runs (each around 8km long) in the entire area - we love the red 17, which winds its way ba...
There are only a few bars and after dinner most of the entertainment is focused in the big hotels. The Silver Bullet is where you'll find most of the action, it's a fun Australian themed pub in the village centre, with regular music events, a pool table, darts and more than enough schnapps to keep you busy for a night or two! If you really want to burn the midnight oil, pop over to the lively resort of Söll just 15 minutes' drive away - Whisky-Mühle is a popular venue open late every night, expect some seri...
