The comfortable, well-equipped Scandic Rukahovi Apartments are located just a few minutes' walk from the Rukahovi Hotel, in a quiet wooded area of Ruka. Step out the door and it's just 10 minutes' walk to the resort centre and ski lifts, so you can be on the slopes in no time. First-timers can hop on the shuttle bus to get to the ski school meeting point – or, once you've find your ski legs, it's a 5-minute slide.

The apartments are spot on for families and groups looking for flexible self-catering stay that's handy for the resort centre. Each one has a private sauna that's ideal for warming up and soothing muscles after a day on the mountain. The kitchenettes are well-stocked and there's a supermarket a short walk away. Or if you don't fancy cooking, you can upgrade to half board for excellent breakfasts and evening meals taken at the Scandic Rukahovi Hotel.

Nestled in the Finnish hills on the borders of Lapland, just south of the Arctic Circle, a visit here is a once-in-a-lifetime experience (and many return again and again).
