Overview: chalet description: Chalet Sequoia description

Cosy up for your week in the mountains in the Chalet Sequoia. This charming hut is our only freestanding chalet in Val Thorens, so you and your fellow guests will have the whole building to call home.

When you’re not out on the slopes or exploring the resort, you can unwind in the spacious communal living room, which has comfy sofas and big windows to make the most of the stunning valley views.

When it’s time to eat, wander next door to the dining room, where your chalet hosts will dish up tasty breakfasts and 3-course dinners full of fresh home cooking. And make sure you pop back in the afternoons to snack on homemade cakes and treats.

The Sequoia has six bedrooms, with a mix of layouts to suits couples and families. The décor carries on the cosy theme, with wood-panelled walls, simple furniture and lots of storage, plus modern bathrooms either in the rooms or in the corridor.

When you want to hit the piste, just collect your gear from the chalet’s ski room and walk a couple of minutes to the nursery slopes and lifts, or hop on the free ski bus to the ski school meeting point. You’re pretty much right in the centre of the resort too, so it’s a short stroll to all of the shops and bars.

Please note:

Children aged 11 years and under are only accepted in school holidays (Christmas, New Year, February half term and Easter) OR if the whole chalet is occupied by one group.

2300m at the top of the Three Valleys ski area, VT is the highest ski resort in Europe and part of the biggest linked ski area on the planet. While it's a place for people who, above all else, love to ski, you'll also find some of the country's best après including the legendary Folie Douce, as well as weird and wonderful activities like the 1300m Tyrolienne zip wire. Olde worlde gallic charm it isn't, but skiers will wake up to find some of the best snow in the Alps on their doorstep, and the views over the...
At the summit of the largest ski area in the world and bordering the Vanoise National Park, this is a spectacular place to ski and board. Beginners are well catered for on nursery slopes by the Rond Point des Pistes, where the magic carpets often don't require a lift pass. Kids will love the Junior Park, while the Musaraigne and Campagnols runs in the beginner's area and the new Deux Combes green are perfect to practice on. With a bit more confidence, take the Pionniers or Plein Sud chairs for some cruisy lon...
The après ski here easily rivals other top resorts in the Alps. If you haven't already had the Folie Douce experience, head just under the Plein Sud lift where the "dancefloor on top of the world" is heaving from 3 pm. Another place to party is Bar 360 at the end of the blue Moraine run, which always has live music and cheaper drinks. Back in town, Rue de Gebroulaz is a hub of lively bars where O'Connells is the local Irish pub. The Frog and Roastbeef is a long-time favourite of Brits. L'Eclipse on Galerie Caro...

"Good views, easy to get to the town centre"

Perched high in the highest resort in Europe, the views from the Sequoia’s living room are quite impressive – in clear weather, take your first coffee of the day (or a glass of wine later on...) out onto the balcony. The interior is nothing lavish but you get what you pay for – it’s split into two apartments which work well for families/small groups and everyone shares the lounge and dining area. Location-wise, anyone in ski school can usually get there in under 10 minutes and the pubs, restaurants etc in the middle of town are a couple of minutes away – tops. See if they’re still offering the pre-bookable nanny service to make the week easier if you’re here with bambinos.
