The chalet was good, what you’d expect from an Austrian chalet holiday really. The chalet is located in the Nasserein area of St. Anton (not the centre) but this wasn’t a problem at all, it’s easy to get to the heart of the resort. You can either walk (about a 10 minute easy walk on flat terrain) or you can ... + more

Location: where is Chalet Schlosshof

· 10 minutes' downhill walk to the Nasserein gondola · ski bus stops outside and runs every 30 minutes at peak times

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Schlosshof description

Converted from an old Tyrolean farmhouse, the Schlosshof is at the top of Nasserein in a quiet, sunny spot away from the busy centre of town. Fortunately, the free ski bus also stops right in front of the chalet, taking the hassle out of getting to and from the ski lifts.

The accommodation is simple. There are a few creaks from the floorboards and some of the rooms share bathroom facilities (so it may be worth bringing a bathrobe with you), but the bedrooms are spacious. Also, if you're not too keen on cuddling up to your roommate, most of the beds can be separated, and there are a couple of single rooms too. There are also separate lounge and dining room areas, so you've got space to chill-out and catch up at the end of the ski day.

Chalet Schlosshof underwent a bit of a makeover last winter - a lick of paint and a refresh in most rooms, plus one room gained an en suite bathroom, and there's a new apartment on the ground floor.

Please note:

Rooms 4 and 5 may experience some noise due to location of communal areas.

This chalet has no lift and is non-smoking throughout.

Children aged 11 years and under are only accepted in school holidays (Christmas, New Year, February half term and Easter) OR if the whole chalet is occupied by one group.

Getting Here

When you arrive in St Anton, the coaches aren’t able to take you right up to the door of your accommodation. Instead, you’ll be dropped off at a central location in resort. From here, a smaller vehicle will pick you up and drive you the rest of the way through the pretty streets to the Chalet Schlosshof.

Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. There's a nurs...
The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...

"Noisy guests & staff!"

Frances Loots, Perth
3/ out of 5
The Schlosshof was ok, everything was basic but this wasn’t a problem in any way. The only issue we did have was with some other guests (there was a stag party staying there) who made a lot of noise at 2/3/4 in the morning. The hosts weren’t particularly good at keeping them under control and some of the chalet staff were actually joining in the party, so they didn’t make an effort to quieten them down. If you’re young and want to go out that’s fine, our teens and other guests were going out regularly but never made any noise when they returned. The inside was all spacious and clean, the location was quite nice as you’re up on the hillside. You’re not in St Anton itself but then that didn’t bother me, there was a wee bus that picked you up from outside the door and it only took ten minutes or so to walk into town. The food was pretty good, nice and wholesome and quite a reasonable quality (not outstanding but not shoddy either) but the wine was atrocious – I stopped drinking it and other guests ended up bringing their own. There were plenty of cakes etc available too which was nice. We liked the room we had as it was a good size, and the kids also had a decent sized room downstairs.

"Typical chalet holiday, no complaints"

The chalet was good, what you’d expect from an Austrian chalet holiday really. The chalet is located in the Nasserein area of St. Anton (not the centre) but this wasn’t a problem at all, it’s easy to get to the heart of the resort. You can either walk (about a 10 minute easy walk on flat terrain) or you can get the free bus which runs regularly. There really were no drawbacks with being in Nasserein. We stayed in the chalet over Christmas, which was nice and a bit of a novelty, although now I’ve done it I don’t think I would go away over Christmas again. I prefer staying at home really. The food was good overall and the chalet hosts cooked us Christmas dinner on the 25th with all the trimmings. I think when you’re going away over Christmas it’s quite early in the season and we found the snow wasn’t great.
