Overview - chalet description - Chalet Ruby description

The 15 person Chalet Ruby is a welcome addition to our Mountain Collection family in Les Deux Alpes. Having been a farm cottage in a previous life, it’s made of local stone and its small exterior hides a deceptively spacious chalet.

It’s been renovated to a high standard and has a modern, contemporary feel thanks to crystal white walls and warming colours. You’ll find it in the old town, down a quiet side street and just 300m from the high-speed six-person Diable chairlift.

The eight guest rooms are split over two floors. Each is ensuite and all are a really good size with plenty of storage for all that you bring with you.

Relax with friends and family in the large lounge with its huge, comfy corner sofas and a roaring wood burner, ideal for warming feet as well as the soul. After a delicious afternoon treat of fresh cakes and biscuits, head into the dining area and enjoy a home cooked meal on the huge farmhouse table.

Room Types - bathrooms beds & sleeping

The Ruby sleeps 15 people in eight great sized ensuite bedrooms. There's a choice of twins or doubles so it suits groups of friends really well.

Each room is light and bright with a tastefully-done mix of modern and traditional wooden furniture. The bathrooms all have a shower and wc. Rooms on the top floor have sloping ceilings but are still a good size.

Meals - food and drink in Chalet Ruby

Our chalet board basis is designed for skiers and boarders. Breakfast is a fairly extensive affair with cooked and continental options every day. Your daily afternoon tea of freshly baked cakes and biscuits will be waiting for you when you come in from the slopes.

Evening meals are a three-course set-menu with regionally inspired dishes and free-flowing wine throughout the week, all followed by fresh coffee. We provide evening meals on six nights a week leaving you free to head out and explore the resort on one evening.

We update Chalet Ruby's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

This package holiday to Chalet Ruby in Les Deux Alpes, France departs Saturday 23rd December 2017, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

Glacier Skiing Awesome après Loads to do

Gobsmacking views of Mont Blanc aren’t the only bonus of the glacier - this ‘upside down’ ski resort is one of the most snow sure in the Alps, so much so that you can ski here in the summertime. Much loved for its après ski, the town's main strip is bursting with some of the best bars in the mountains.

Grenoble is the closest airport with a transfer time of just under 2 hours, making the resort really accessible by road. The resort was first used for skiing as early as 1925, when the first ski tow was erected. Unfortunately, this rather Neanderthal piece of equipment fell down a mere 15 minutes after the opening ceremony! The “Les Deux Alpes”, as we know it today, was established in 1946. It is commonly assumed that the name is derived from the two mountains on either side of the town, when in reality the na...
There are plenty of beginner slopes on the front face with runs like les Vikings and Les Gentianes for those learning to ski. The great thing about LDA is that there are some terrific beginner slopes higher up the mountain so new skiers can really experience the benefits of skiing at altitude. The Cretes area at 2100m is the favourite spot for ski schools, with the Ski Escalator a welcome aid to those learning to ski. A top tip for beginners is to either ski the green back to resort early or opt for the gondola ...
You don’t have to look far to find good après in L2A. The best place to start has to be the Panoramique bar, known as Pano bar to the locals. This slopeside restaurant, based at 2,600m really comes alive between 3pm and 5pm every day with a DJ set that will vibrate through your whole body. At the bottom of the piste, Umbrella bar is a great place to keep the party going. If you want to take the night further then Smithy’s is the place to go, with great modern music as well as a few nights of live entertainmen...
