Overview: hotel description: Chalet RoyAlp Hotel & Spa description

Meal Basis: Bed & Breakfast
If you're looking for a 5* ski in, ski out hotel within a short hop of an airport for your short ski break this season, why not consider the Chalet RoyAlp in Villars? This stylish hotel combines chic contemporary interiors with high-class features to ensure a memorable stay, a reason why the hotel is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World group.
The hotel is located at the end of the blue run from Bretaye to Roches Grises, and at the first train stop up from Villars. It's under a 5-minute walk down the hill into centre of Villars.
Chalet RoyAlp is a true 5* in terms of presentation, services and quality. The style is on of a large chalet rather than a typical large hotel, particularly in the public areas. You'll find a dedicated family play area, a movie theatre and an immaculately presented exclusive spa, with swimming pool, relaxation areas, hot tub, sauna, steam room and a fitness centre – really first-class facilities.
The 63 bedrooms and suites are presented in a similar style with elegant furnishings and a warm and cosy Alpine feel, while suites offer more space. Rooms are fully en-suite and include either twin beds or a king-size bed, flat-screen cable TV, safe, radio, hairdryer, free Wi-Fi, bathrobes and slippers plus free Au Lait toiletries.
The Jardin des Alpes Restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere where head chef Alain Montigny honours French gastronomy by offering dishes made from farm-fresh products. His creations combine modernity and respect for the ingredients. Dinner options are 5* Swiss prices with a variety of light dishes, an à la carte menu and Swiss mountain specialities; the food quality is excellent.
Your holiday will be booked on a Bed & Breakfast basis to allow you to experience fine dining at the hotel as well as the various eateries dotted around Villars.

Not just a sunny ski resort, Villars has an impressive ski area and caters really well for families. Topped with olde village charm, views of Lake Geneva, Mont-Blanc and the Dents du Midi and restaurants that even Heston raves about, a holiday here is likely to be a hard one to forget.

Just west of Lake Geneva, Villars is part of the French-speaking region of the ‘Alpes Vaudoises’. The resort sits on a balcony at 1300m and is mostly south-facing – ideal for sun-soaked vistas of the Portes du Soleil and even sights of Mont Blanc on a clear day. This eco-savvy destination is one of the greenest resorts in the world and has been awarded the Flocon Vert for sustainable development. The Swiss tourist office has also recognised it for the awesome children’s facilities (they’ve offered free l...
The local ski area covers the four peaks of Petit Chamossaire, Grand Chamossaire and Chaux Ronde above Villars and the Croix des Chaux behind Gryon. There’s some fantastic beginner skiing on the designated areas towards the back of town – as these are off the main piste network, they’re usually free to use. Venture towards the bowl at Bretaye where you’ll find some wide, sweeping blue runs like Bretay-Orsay and Chaux Ronde (the main learners’ slope). The Populaire Bretaye run meets the Lapins slope for a...
Kick things off during the afternoon by settling for vin chauds at a slopeside café like Col De Bretaye. You can relax on the terrace with a sunny view of Mt Blanc and the surrounding runs - if you haven’t had lunch yet, we’ve heard the steak tartare is amazing! Down in the village, the Plaza el Gringo has 3 bars that are popular with both tourists and locals. The liveliest is the El Gringo disco and there’s also the VIP club and Charlie’s that do a good range of drinks and have DJ’s most nights. The Moo...
