Jill, Barry, Jake and Susan were extremely helpful, friendly hosts who are a complete credit to the company. The chalet is in a great position to ski in and out, very new, clean and warm. Enjoyed good skiing throughout the Portes du Soleil region from an excellent base in Avoriaz. The chalet is well positioned for ski in, ski out and easy to get into the village on foot. Situated at the top of resort just by the TK Dromonts lift and a short glide away from the 'Plateau' nursery slopes. After a hard day on the slopes the chalet is just staggering distance from the Yeti Bar and a short walk in to town for those wanting to venture a little further afield. Ski hire for Chalet Poudreuse is provided by Absolut Sports, just a 5 minute walk away.

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Poudreuse description

Chalet Poudreuse sits on the plateau, right in the centre of Avoriaz. At a dizzying altitude of 1850 metres, and right next to the piste, lifts, ski schools, mountain restaurants and village centre, independent chalets in this spot are rarer than January marmottes. Ski-in ski-out locations don't get better than this anywhere in the world; we have to transfer you and your bags across the pistes by snowcat!

Reborn from the site of an old 16th century barn, our independent Chalet Poudreuse has a fabulous vaulted living area with flat screen and fireplace, balcony with spectacular mountain and piste side views and ubiquitous sauna. At this altitude and location the bedrooms are undeniably compact, but well equipped nonetheless; with plenty of storage, wall mounted flat screen TVs and smart contemporary bathrooms.

When your instructor can knock on the door without removing his skis and you can stroll across the empty piste for a beer as the sun goes down at the end of the day, you will appreciate why we are so excited about this incredible asset. A completely unique ski holiday experience.

Spread across three floors, the Poudreuse sleeps 12 – 14 guests in 6 rooms. The rooms are on the Lower Ground and Ground floors with 5 Twins and 1 Double to choose from. The Double room also has bunk beds which are charged at half the adult price.

All our catered ski holidays include;

  • Continental breakfast with a cooked option on 6 mornings
  • Afternoon tea will be left in the chalet for you to help yourself to freshly made cake or biscuits, bread & jams, selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate
  • Canapés on the first and last evening
  • 3 course evening meal (6 nights) followed by cheese board and coffee
  • A choice of red and white wine is served throughout dinner
We update Chalet Poudreuse's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

Established in the 1960s as the brainchild of Olympic champion skier Jean Vuarnet, Avoriaz is a purpose build resort with tonnes of character. The wood-clad buildings have a striking appearance that set it apart from other destinations. Even more impressive is the 360° panorama of the Alps. Avoriaz is brilliantly located right in the centre of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Completely ski-in ski-out, a holiday in Avoriaz means you don't have to lug your equipment around and you can maximise time on the slopes...
Avoriaz is one of our favourite resorts to bring the family - thanks to a huge and central children's village, complete with a specialised snowboarding area, children can learn to ski and ride in a fun and safe environment. Avoriaz is one of the only resorts that has a Beginner Pass, letting you find your feet on easy terrain via 14 lifts without the expense of a full lift pass. Beginners-only piste Première Glisse gives you the chance to improve at your own pace, while Proclou and Q'monts are easy blues for cr...
Avoriaz has worked hard on it's apres game in the last few years, with the addition of a well-known apres go to 'La Folie Douce' for winter 2018. It has an array of restaurants, bars and off-slope activities that contribute to a lively après ski scene. Le Tavallion is an English themed pub for a home-from-home atmosphere, Shooters is good for party-lovers while Le Yak tends to be the venue of choice for late-night clubbing. "A very good chalet"

Stephen

Very good! I thought it looked virtually brand new and well looked after. The food was absolutely fine and if someone wanted something different they could ask and the staff would gladly do it. The chalet hosts were fine. The building itself is conveniently located for the slopes. Because it’s a ski in, ski out resort, you just put your skis on and ski - then go up to a particular lift and ski down at the end of the day.

Stayed at the chalet for a family skiing holiday. The chalet is very comfortable and clean, with excellent facilities. The living area is very spacious with a fabulous view over the resort. The bedrooms are well appointed and comfortable with lots of hot water. The chalet is centrally located and a short walk to a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. It is also very close to the pistes and it is an easy ski-in/out. Jake and Susie were brilliant hosts and contributed massively to making our holiday so special. They worked so hard all week and were very attentive and accommodating to the needs of all the guests. The food was delicious and several receives have been copied out to be recreated at home. In my experience they were a cut above the regular chalet hosts and future guests will be very fortunate to have their company. ... And as my 9-year-old son insisted on typing "Our ski hosts Susan and Jake are very good with kids. They are always up early to make their continental breakfast for all the people staying in the chalet. The chalet would not run properly without Jake and Susan, and they would be hard to beat running the chalet. They gave everyone in my party a fantastic time, and I think that the other people in the chalet would say so too."

Jill, Barry, Jake and Susan were extremely helpful, friendly hosts who are a complete credit to the company. The chalet is in a great position to ski in and out, very new, clean and warm. The heated boot rack wonderful. Our room, the double with bunks, was under the main lounge dining area and unfortunately the tiled floor above us meant that every sound was magnified. Not the fault of the company but when the hosts were starting breakfast early we knew about it! There was a good sauna and lots of really hot water available at all times. Breakfast was excellent and extensive. Afternoon tea was supplied with bread, jam etc although the cakes variable. The dinners were adequate but would not have fed hungry skiers in their 20s or 30s and of average standard compared to previous experiences with other chalet operators, a bit style over substance with more veg required.

"Good place to stay in Portes du Soleil"

Enjoyed good skiing throughout the Portes du Soleil region from an excellent base in Avoriaz. The chalet is well positioned for ski in, ski out and easy to get into the village on foot. Room 4 is a bit noisy, and insulation between the three rooms on ground floor level would have been sensible, as would something to muffle the noise from the dining room above including the sliding door which all occupants of the ground floor rooms noted. It is a pretty basic design flaw, but Jake helpfully said he'd look into finding some solution for this (though not resolved during our stay). Thanks to Susan and Jake for an enjoyable stay, great food and their advice on getting to the furthest pistes.
