Fantastic week! Host Sam was really good and Victor the chef was awesome. The chalet is nice, with good dining and lounge areas. The bedrooms are small but that didn’t bother us. It was my first stay in a chalet and I’d definitely go for a chalet holiday again – maybe with a bigger group next time. The chalet was good and what I expected. It was as described. I hadn’t been to a chalet before but I would definitely recommend the chalet experience, it was a really good holiday. Overall the chalet is fine but it’s worth knowing that it’s a bit far out of town so if you want to access the centre it takes about a twenty minute walk… Getting to the piste however is easy, it’s not ski to the door but you can reach the slopes in about 2 minutes. Other than this, the food, staff, bedroom... + more

Spectacular views of Mont Blanc aren’t the only bonus of the glacier - this ‘upside down’ ski resort is one of the most snow-sure in the Alps, so much so that you can ski here in the summertime. Much loved for its après ski, the town's main strip is bursting with some of the best bars in the mountains.

Grenoble is the closest airport with a transfer time of just under 2 hours, making the resort accessible by road. The resort was first used for skiing as early as 1925 when the first ski tow was built. The “Les Deux Alpes”, as we know it today, was established in 1946. It is commonly assumed that the name is derived from the two mountains on either side of the town when in reality the name stems from the two villages on either side of the settlement: Mont De Lans and Venosc. The resort is compact, and you’...
There are plenty of beginner slopes on the front face with runs like les Vikings and Les Gentianes for those learning to ski. The great thing about Les Deux Alpes is that there are some terrific beginner slopes higher up the mountain so new skiers can experience the benefits of skiing at altitude. The Cretes area at 2100m is the favourite spot for ski schools, with the ski escalator a welcome aid to those learning to ski. The run home at the end of the day used to have a fearsome reputation for being overcrowded...
You don’t have to look far to find good après in Les Deux Alpes. One of the best bars in resort is Pano bar, this slopeside restaurant, based at 2,600m comes alive at happy hour between 3 pm and 5 pm every day with discounted drinks and a DJ set that will vibrate through your whole body. At the bottom of the piste, Umbrella bar is a great place to keep the party going. If you want to take the night further then Smithy’s is the place to go, with great modern music as well as live entertainment on several night...

"Adequate but walls too thin/noisy – food amazing – thoroughly enjoyed holiday"

Mark Allen, Bournemouth
4/ out of 5
Accommodation was perfectly adequate although walls too thin and particularly noisy for my bed just above the front door. Food was amazing and many thanks to Shenton and Max. Also enjoyed the Grenache. Difficult matching guests in incomplete chalets when half just want to go out and get drunk, keep everyone awake all night and fall onto the slopes in the afternoon whilst others want to get to bed and up for the first lifts. Probably need to have a party chalet and a skiers chalet. All in all thoroughly enjoyed the holiday – early season powder almost every morning made it the first week where off piste has really been a joy after almost 40 years of ski-ing. Mark (and Leo)

"Hot tub was a bonus!"

Fantastic week! Host Sam was really good and Victor the chef was awesome. The chalet is nice, with good dining and lounge areas. The bedrooms are small but that didn’t bother us. One thing that wasn’t on the website when we booked was the fact that the chalet has a hot tub – a nice bonus when we got there! In terms of getting into town the bus stop is right outside. The green run that goes all the way down is pretty much 100 metres away. Couldn’t have asked for more!

"Spot on holiday"

It was my first stay in a chalet and I’d definitely go for a chalet holiday again – maybe with a bigger group next time. Whole experience was spot on, really good food and the chalet hosts were helpful and friendly. We stayed here in the middle of December, the first week the chalet was open, the atmosphere in the resort was lively with lots of uni trips happening that week. The snow was good with snowfall in the middle of the week and it wasn’t bad for snowboarding (there were lots of flats). One of the reps took us on a pub crawl which was a good night and there’s lots to keep you busy in the resort.

"Chalet as described, fantastic staff, good holiday"

Christopher Thevenot, Hertfordshire

The chalet was good and what I expected. It was as described. I hadn’t been to a chalet before but I would definitely recommend the chalet experience, it was a really good holiday. I know the chalet is exceptional value for money out of peak season but we went over New Years so it was more expensive of course for that reason. The staff were fantastic, both of them. The cooking was actually pretty good, I wouldn’t call it gourmet but it was good hearty food. It was what I expected for the price we paid. The chalet is a bit far from the slopes. If there is plenty of snow you can cut through and ski down, but we only just had enough ski cover that week as it was. So instead we had to get the bus – it was easy and not a problem. The communal space in the chalet is quite small and not very comfortable. There is only enough space for 9 people to sit in the living room area at once.
