Overview - chalet description - Chalet Pepi Gabl description

NB: Next year chalet catering will be 5 nights catered not 6, for winter 2018/2019 (i.e. guests eat out 2 nights, if staying in this property).

NB: This is a "family" chalet, so all bookings must include at least one child or teenager.

The Pepi Gabl is a great hit with families wishing to enjoy all that St Anton has to offer.

The chalet's location is unrivalled, being right next to the Nasserein gondola for quick access to the slopes each morning and with St Anton’s charming centre only a short walk away.

The owner has improved the chalet hugely by adding a wonderful family-friendly extension of the communal areas on the ground floor, to provide an impressive lounge and bar area. Dedicated bar staff are on hand to offer a full bar service as part of the chalet’s additional features as an ”Xtra” chalet. A second phase of refurbishment also resulted in the addition of several new rooms and suites, as well as the extension of some bedrooms on the lower floors.

Classic Austrian wooden furnishings feature throughout the building whilst the generous modern lounge provides an ideal area to mingle before or after dinner.

The dining area consists of a series of tables with upholstered bench seating in the traditional Austrian “stube” style, and features pine-clad walls and decorative ceiling panels. There is also a separate adjoining breakfast room to make the start of each day run more smoothly for all guests.

To complete the attraction of the Pepi Gabl, a spacious Wellness area is on the lower ground floor, with a sauna and spa bath where parents and children over 13 may relax at the end of the skiing day.

Our Nursery in St Anton is located within the chalet and has been completely fitted out to our requirements to provide a bright cheerful play space for our youngest guests. This is where we also operate our evening Mini Cocoa Club from 7.30-9.30pm for 3-5 year olds who may not yet be in bed whilst their parents are enjoying dinner.

Supervised lunches will be held in the Pepi Gabl for all children in Childcare as well as their accompanying staff.

Furthermore we have arranged ski hire for all families booking their ski equipment with us in our partner ski hire shop just next door so hitting the slopes first thing on Mondays is a breeze.

Ski Childcare & Children’s Ski Lessons

We have led the childcare concept for UK families on skiing holidays for the last 35 years and our programme is constantly reviewed and refined, with previous guest feedback always the key element in further enhancing the experience.

For parents, Classic Childcare means being able to leave your accommodation after breakfast to head for the first lifts, only needing to return after the last one shuts. We look after your children completely throughout the ski day if you wish.

While the babies and toddlers go to our Nursery, staff take the older ones to our partner ski-school, collect them, give them lunch, run activities to keep them happy and stimulated and then take them back to their chalets for their high tea, giving you our super-convenient ‘Seamless Service’ throughout the day.

Why Choose us?

  • 35 years experience as the UK’s leading family ski specialist
  • The biggest choice of childcare services in skiing
  • Flexible childcare options, from half-days up to our 'Seamless Service' from 9am-6pm
  • Strict ratios of nannies to children in all our Nurseries
  • All nannies properly qualified and English-speaking
  • All childcare staff are subject to the new Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Check (formerly the 'CRB' check) in line with the UK's legal requirements for anyone working regularly and closely with children.
  • All appropriate childcare and catering staff trained to the City & Guilds Level 2 in Food Safety or equivalent
  • Strict signing-in/out procedures for all ages whenever responsibility for children passes between staff or ski instructors and parents
  • Exclusive ski classes, with the best English-speaking instructors
  • Maximum 8 children in a class, and only 6 per class for 3-4 year-olds

Meals - food and drink in Chalet Pepi Gabl

Winter 2017/18 Cuisine

We set high standards for our cuisine, and train our staff extensively before the season starts, to ensure that guests will enjoy every meal.

Breakfast

In all our properties breakfast is served buffet-style with a selection of cold options including a choice of cereals or porridge, cold meats, cheese and preserves, and bread (and croissants in France) fruit juices, tea and coffee and a cooked breakfast of bacon, sausage, eggs and beans.

On the one staff night off per week, a breakfast is served as a buffet in our Xtra Chalets.

Piste Picnics

Our Chalet Hotel teams can also prepare a packed lunch for you on request, at a small local charge.

Afternoon Tea

Every day, apart from the one staff day off, a home-baked cake and tea and coffee making facilities are laid out for you to help yourself when you return from the slopes.

In all our Xtra Chalets, we also prepare a homemade soup and a savoury treat to accompany the sweet ones.

Chalet Hotel Meals

High Tea at 5:30pm is served as a 2 course evening meal to all children up to 7 years old (and to 8-12 year olds if preferred). Parents are asked to accompany their children under 3, whilst 3-12 year olds are supervised by our childcare team.

Adult dinner at 7:30pm begins with canapés with a prosecco apéritif, followed by a choice of appetiser, main course and either dessert or local cheese, accompanied by a choice of red, white and rose wine, and culminating with tea or coffee.

Adults (and any children aged 8 and over joining the adults) are asked to choose their starter and main course at breakfast time, and there's always a vegetarian daily option too. Please note that children will be eating the adult menu choices if they choose to eat at 7.30pm.

Dinner on staff day off for all guests

On the staff night(s) off you and your family have the opportunity to eat out in one of the local restaurants. Our staff will be happy to help with recommendations and bookings if you wish. If you would prefer, you can always order in a takeaway pizza, and have a relaxing evening in.

Our ‘Xtra’ chalets are enhanced by the option between a cheeseboard and dessert, and a rosé wine is added to our usual choice of reds and whites.

Special Diets

We always prepare a vegetarian main course in our Chalet Hotels and can cater for vegetarians staying in both our Xtra and regular chalets, as well as any other specific dietary requirements in all our properties, if we are advised in advance.

Special diets can be accommodated at a cost of £35 per person per week. Please notify us of your dietary needs at the time of booking.

Children’s High Tea

High Tea provides children under 13 with a healthy menu, but tailored more towards children’s tastes than our main adult dinner, and puréed food is also always available for infants on request. Parents are asked to accompany their children under 36 months at High Tea please, whilst children from 3-12 years will be supervised by staff.

Winter 2018/19 Cuisine

Our staff prepare and serve breakfast, afternoon tea and a 3 course evening meal including wine and coffee, on five days a week, representing great value for money in any ski resort and giving you more precious time as a family. The staff nights off give you a chance to sample some of the delicious local restaurants an ensure that you don’t leave The Alps without your fill of Weiner Schnitzel or Fondue! Our baby listening service ensures that you can enjoy your meal out without worry.

We set high standards for our cuisine, and train our staff extensively before the season starts, to ensure that you will enjoy every meal.

Breakfast

In all our properties breakfast is served buffet-style with a selection of cold options including a choice of cereals or porridge, cold meats, cheese and preserves, and bread (an croissants in France) fruit juices, tea and coffee and a cooked breakfast of bacon, sausage, eggs and beans.

On the two staff nights off per week, a continental style breakfast is laid out for you to help yourselves in all chalets whilst it is served as a buffet in our Xtra Chalets.

Piste Picnics

Our Chalet Hotel teams can also prepare a packed lunch for you on request, at a small local charge.

Christmas & New Year Celebrations

All our chalets and Chalet Hotels offer traditional fare for Christmas dinner, with roast turkey and all the trimmings, Christmas pudding, mince pies, crackers, party hats and of course a pre-dinner glass of Champagne plus a lively, fun atmosphere for all the family.

This is the one meal that all families share together regardless of children’s ages, so in some properties the dining tables can be quite crowded, but this adds to the festive ambience of all celebrating together!

A special festive menu followed by Champagne is also served on New Year’s Eve, but this is for adults only (and those aged 13+ of course), unless you are staying in a Family Dining chalet.

Staff Day/Night Off

Once a week for 2017/18 and twice a week for 2018/19, you have an opportunity to eat out and enjoy a local Alpine Restaurant on our staff's day(s) off. Don't forget, you can still take advantage of our free Baby-Listening/Child Patrol Service on this evening. For the 2017/18 season.

Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...

Very good, not luxurious but clean and tidy. The lounge was very nice for socialising and felt safe for the children to play in. The staff were great, and they provided childcare when we wanted to go out. It was incredibly child-friendly. Perhaps not the best place for very young children as there are quite a few steps inside the chalet to get to the rooms, etc. Our children were 5 and 6 and it was great for them. The location is absolutely fabulous. Even in late spring, you could ski almost all the way back to the chalet. In the middle of winter it must be basically ski in / ski out. They managed to keep the run back down to town open even though there wasn’t so much snow left. The main gondola and the equipment hire shop are right next door to the chalet. They were still upgrading the rooms while we were there, but I think by next season they will be finished upgrading all of them.

"Food and staff great but chalet needed some maintenance work"

The chalet was good but there was some maintenance which needed addressing. The toilets downstairs needed cleaning, our room needed smartening up and the child’s bed in our room was broken for the entire duration of our stay. I’m not sure if this was related to it being the end of the season. Otherwise the service was very good. The food was also very good, although they were also running out of things on the catering side because it was the last week. For example there wasn’t enough jam at breakfast, etc. They did a standard continental breakfast with some hot options and then an excellent 3 course dinner. We had a quad room with 4 beds, it was a bit of a squeeze but it was alright. We had a little fridge and a bit of a kitchenette which meant that we could come back to the chalet for lunch – that saved an absolute fortune, it can get very expensive eating out with four of us. Not all the rooms have this, only the larger ones.
