Compared to my hotel holiday in Serre Chevalier last year, Chalet Monet was much better. The chalet was fine. It was very accessible, we liked the food and the staff were fine. The bedroom (room 8) was adequate, with slightly restricted sloping beam ceiling. It was fine for us but anyone over 5 foot 8 might have knocked their heads in the night. The social areas were more than enough to fit everyon... + more

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Monet description

NB: This is a "family" chalet, so all bookings must include at least one child or teenager.

We are delighted to add this lovely chalet to our portfolio. Chalet Monet is just a short walk from the centre of Les Gets, the ski school meeting place, the ski lifts and slopes. Chalet Monet offers a choice of family suites, a large living room and a bright, spacious playroom. There is also a large hot tub on the terrace as well as a sauna for aprés-ski recuperation.

Chalet Monet was new to our Les Gets programme last season. Already a popular chalet for families visiting in Les Gets, we have worked with the owner to incorporate family suites into the design and ensure it is 100% family focussed!

The chalet has four family suites, two double rooms and a twin room and sleeps up to 22 guests. There is a very large living room with a wood burner and a spacious and light playroom. The dining area is separate to the living room and offers families plenty of space for all meals. For apres ski relaxation there is a sauna as well as an outdoor hot tub.

Situated near our Chalet Marjorie, Monet is a short and easy walk to the centre of the resort and the nearest lift and pistes. Monet has already proved to be a great addition to our Les Gets programme.

All of our chalets have their own dedicated playrooms.

Our professional carers are a mix of qualified nannies, teachers and nurses supported by experienced assistants. All are recruited by us in the UK.

This is as close to an alpine fairy tale as it gets. A beautiful resort tucked away between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, Les Gets’ charm comes from rustic wooden chalets, friendly locals and the inevitably cosy atmosphere a smaller village can offer. Les Gets is pronounced Ley-Jay. Situated just an hour from Geneva Airport, it’s perfect for those who don’t want to waste a chunk of their holiday travelling, as most people who fly in the morning can make it onto the slopes by mid-afternoon. This is also one...
Les Gets has several ski schools, making it an excellent place for children and beginners. Most have bi-lingual instructors, and the resort’s popularity with families means instructors are well versed in teaching children to ski. A designated beginner park called Mappy’s Area is close to the Chavannes cable car, with gentle slopes, two magic carpets and rope tows to ski smoothly on 4 gentle slopes. There are good blue runs near the centre of town, and further up towards Chavannes, for any older learners w...
Whilst the resort isn't primarily known for a huge après ski scene, a choice of over 100 shops, bars and restaurants means there's definitely fun to be had after a long day on the slopes. There are several lively bars, and most will stay open until about 2 am. The Irish pub is great for its friendly atmosphere, home-brewed beers, live music and great tapas. The Black Bear is child friendly, with a pool table and located just above the Irish pub. If 2 am isn't late enough for you, Igloo nightclub is open until 4...

"A great holiday in Chalet Monet"

Steven Moore, Buckinghamshire

Compared to my hotel holiday in Serre Chevalier last year, Chalet Monet was much better. The group of people I stayed with were perfectly nice, we were a big group of around 20 including a family and some small groups of 2’s, 3’s and 4’s – everyone got on very well and I didn’t feel at all pressured or left out as a solo traveller. The Monet is literally five minute walk to where everyone kept their boots and skis, we could have kept them in the chalet’s dry room but we ended up using the ski hire shop which was right by the gondola. The chalet’s at one end of the town and the first shop and pub were about 50 yards down the road, which then stretched a mile down to the other end of the town with more bars and restaurants along the way. The food was very well prepared, very posh looking and well presented. Not all of the meals were to my taste but they were always well cooked with good sized portions. There were hosts on hand and it was so nice to just be able to ask if you wanted extra portions or anything else. The hosts and reps were very well organised and did a ‘Les Gets by night’ pub crawl, a quiz night and helped us find a nice meal on the chalet host’s night off – there was something you could do every night but there were no obligations to do so if you didn’t want to. I would definitely recommend a chalet holiday, the problem I found with the hotel I stayed in previously was that once you’d had dinner people would just go back to their rooms so you’d lose the ambiance. In a chalet you really get to know the people there as well as meeting people from other chalets on the organised events that you can then say hello to when you’re on the slopes.

The chalet was fine. It was very accessible, we liked the food and the staff were fine. The bedroom (room 8) was adequate, with slightly restricted sloping beam ceiling. It was fine for us but anyone over 5 foot 8 might have knocked their heads in the night. The social areas were more than enough to fit everyone in the chalet. The only problems we really had were the transfers. On the transfer up the driver hit the bus on a barrier going up the mountain. On the way back, we had a fairly early flight but the pick-up was ridiculously early. There was another coach going an hour later so we asked if we could be on that instead, the rep came back almost immediately saying no as the coach was full. After 2 hours at the airport we met people from the second coach, and they told us there had been plenty of free seats which was really annoying.

This bright and airy chalet is set in an ideal location and within a short walk to the lifts but crucially, also right in the heart of Les Gets, which is one of the friendliest little mountain towns in the French alps. After a long day skiing you can enjoy the private spa outside (check before booking) or wander into town for Chartreuse after supper. The hosts here are fantastic, providing multi-course dinners with a good quality wine selection to end the day.
