The chalet itself was OK – there’s nothing wrong with the building itself and the location is alright. The food wasn’t great though. I’ve been on loads of ski holidays before and normally the hosts make quite an effort with hors d’ourves etc. Breakfasts were rubbish, they had a bunch of English people comi... + more

Out of the way, but in a small community of chalets, it is great for people who like their holiday to be theirs, and theirs alone. Walk with skis along a snowy backdrop for a couple of hundred yards before getting straight onto the piste and making it down to the lift access area. The town is a further two hund... + more

In the French Alps' Savoie region, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built villages and 4 traditional villages. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a l...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts and a wide choice of different ski schools for those new to skiing. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners. The blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin provides a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate skiers, La Plagne is paradise. 77% of the runs are graded either blue or red. Particular favourites are the run from La Grand Roch...
It might not rival Val d'sere or Verbier for their wild party scenes, but this is an exceptional resort for unique après ski opportunities. Try snowmobiling at night, ice climbing in Champagny, husky sledding, paragliding, extreme tobogganing and more! One experience not to be missed is the bobsleigh track, used for Olympic training. There are various ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at speeds ranging from 80 km/hr up to a lightening 120...

"Really, really good!"

Caroline Venner, Nottingham

The chalet was exactly what we wanted. The chalet host completely excelled himself. The food was really, really good. Some of the group had food intolerances and they were very well catered for. The host was always there on time, always made sure breakfast was set up for us in the mornings, was very helpful and answered any questions we had. The rooms were smaller than I expected, but I’ve never stayed in a chalet before so I don’t have much to compare it to. We didn’t spend a lot of time in them anyway, it was really just a place to crash. The chalet’s location was perfect, just a couple of metres from the slopes. The lounge was nice and we sat out on the porch a lot which got good sun. There was an après ski bar right by the chalet which was good and had live music some evenings.

"Really good chalet host"

The chalet was nice. Luckily we had a slightly bigger room. The rooms were generally quite small (which is normal for chalets from what I understand). The facilities worked fine and they kept it clean. The service was really good, we had a really nice host. His cooking was really good – he wants to become a top chef. 10/10 for the host. The chalet is right next to the main La Plagne area and the lifts. For what we paid for it, it was very good.

"Chalet fine, disappointed with food"

The chalet itself was OK – there’s nothing wrong with the building itself and the location is alright. The food wasn’t great though. I’ve been on loads of ski holidays before and normally the hosts make quite an effort with hors d’ourves etc. Breakfasts were rubbish, they had a bunch of English people coming and the hot breakfasts had no sauces – you only had a hot breakfast every other day and it was one egg and one piece of bacon. Continental was just yoghurt and a piece of bread.

"Secluded and still near the fun"

Out of the way, but in a small community of chalets, it is great for people who like their holiday to be theirs, and theirs alone. Walk with skis along a snowy backdrop for a couple of hundred yards before getting straight onto the piste and making it down to the lift access area. The town is a further two hundred yards away, giving you a great excuse to refresh yourself after a busy day riding. For a memorable evening, don't miss partying in bars like Spitting Feathers and Scotty’s Bar, but make sure you know the way home in the dark!
