The chalet hotel’s nice and not too fancy, and I like basic for skiing. The food was fine, I’m not a foodie and it was everything I needed. The staff were generally speaking great, apart from the manageress who was very unfriendly and didn’t seem to be enjoying her job at all (if it hadn't been for her, I wo... + more

Really good! The chalet was clean and the staff were really polite – no complaints. It does what it looks like it’s going to do, basic but perfect. The food was great; it was more English than French (I’d personally prefer a bit more French but the person I went with would say the opposite!). The bedroom was... + more

Overall good! Because of the location in the middle of town there’s quite a lot of noise (it’s right by two clubs) so I would recommend staying as high as you can as the lower rooms get more noise. The chalet hotel was brilliant, everyone was really helpful and kind and our room (twin) was very nice. They were completely able to cater for my vegan diet and we enjoyed the food - quite surprised how good it was (also ate out a couple of nights and there are some really nice restaurants in the area). The chalet hotel is nice. I knew when I booked that there’s a night club underneath and it’s certainly a bit noisy at night, I wish I’d brought ear plugs! I found out on the last day that they had some on reception… Other than that, superb! The staff were great and I liked all of the food. The hotel has a... + more

Overview - chalet description - Xtra Chalet Le Curling description

NB: Next year chalet catering will be 5 nights catered not 6, for winter 2018/2019 (i.e. guests eat out 2 nights, if staying in this property).

Sleeps: 52-62 guests

The Curling is an excellent value Xtra Chalet in classic Tignes style (ie. not so pretty on the outside, but warm and welcoming on the inside!) It is set in a superb position right in the centre of Tignes-Val Claret and close to the resort’s main pistes and lifts. The Tufs chairlift and ski school meeting point are just 2 minutes’ walk away, and from here you can also ski the short distance to a choice of chairlifts, and the base of the funicular taking you straight up to the 100% guaranteed snow of the Grande Motte glacier. You can ski back on piste to within 200m of the hotel, and guests generally ski along the path right back to the Chalet door – a welcome bonus at the end of your day’s skiing.

The comfortable bedrooms all have en suite bath with separate wc, plus a balcony with views across Tignes and the spectacular surrounding mountain peaks, and there are triple and quad rooms also available.

The cosy dining-room has a large bay window overlooking the centre of Val Claret, and the comfortable lounge area will have its own dedicated bar exclusively for resident guests only. As with our popular Chalet Hotel Les Grangettes in Méribel, we also run a public bar on the lower-ground floor, with its own separate access from the street, and well insulated from the guest bedrooms, which are all two floors or more away from the bar.

Don’t forget our exclusive Special Offers in Tignes, which include 2-for-1 ski/snowboard-hire for Chalet Hotel guests; ‘Buy 1 Adult Espace Killy 6 day lift pass and get another half price’, available on certain dates - see our ski pack section for more information.

Espace Killy ski area Fantastic après ski High altitude skiing

Tignes is somewhere you can ski longer, higher and further than most other resorts in the Alps. Owing its snow-reliability to the Grande Motte glacier, the local ski area is joined with Val d’Isere’s to form the mammoth Espace Killy - intermediates will have a whale of a time here. Choose between 5 different villages, whether your priority is convenience, cosiness or cheap accommodation. Tignes also has one of the most famous New Year parties in the Alps.

Tignes ski resort (pronounce it 'Teens') is one half of the stunning Espace Killy, one of the biggest linked ski areas in France. Because of its high-altitude terrain and access to the Grande Motte glacier, the resort is open both earlier and later in the season than many others and often the lifts are running for short periods of summer skiing. Predominantly purpose built, the resort itself is divided into 5 villages, each different in its own way but all well linked by lifts and bus services. The main area...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...

"Very well sited & good food!"

We had a very good week! We ended up being redirected here with 2 days’ notice because there wasn’t any snow in Chamonix at the beginning of the season. The staff were great and we had a great choice of food throughout the week with 4-5 courses each evening and lots of variety. There were a couple of teething problems (I don’t think it was due to open so early) for example a minor plumbing issue but it was all sorted out very quickly. The property is very well sited and we could walk to the slopes in about 5 minutes.

The chalet hotel’s nice and not too fancy, and I like basic for skiing. The food was fine, I’m not a foodie and it was everything I needed. The staff were generally speaking great, apart from the manageress who was very unfriendly and didn’t seem to be enjoying her job at all (if it hadn't been for her, I would rate the experience a 5 out of 5). Le curling has a beautiful location for access to the skiing.

"Avoid back rooms because of noise"

Really good! The chalet was clean and the staff were really polite – no complaints. It does what it looks like it’s going to do, basic but perfect. The food was great; it was more English than French (I’d personally prefer a bit more French but the person I went with would say the opposite!). The bedroom was fine, though one downside was that it was really noisy at night. Our balcony overlooked a night club that didn’t shut until 3 o’clock in the morning so we didn’t get much sleep all week. We were in one of the back rooms as it was supposed to be quieter, but actually it was worse! The location is perfect for getting to the slopes, it was just a 5 minute walk if that.

Overall good! Because of the location in the middle of town there’s quite a lot of noise (it’s right by two clubs) so I would recommend staying as high as you can as the lower rooms get more noise. You’re only a couple of minutes from the slopes though which is really good. The actual rooms are really nice and clean. The eating area could do with an update but a chalet’s a chalet! Food was fine.

The chalet hotel was brilliant, everyone was really helpful and kind and our room (twin) was very nice. They were completely able to cater for my vegan diet and we enjoyed the food - quite surprised how good it was (also ate out a couple of nights and there are some really nice restaurants in the area). I didn’t mind the food ordering process – basically you choose your evening meal at breakfast time – but it did seem to bother a couple of the other guests. Location-wise, it’s unbelievably easy to get around: next door was a nice bakery and we found a route that took you straight down to the lifts on skis.

"Superb! Just bring earplugs!"

The chalet hotel is nice. I knew when I booked that there’s a night club underneath and it’s certainly a bit noisy at night, I wish I’d brought ear plugs! I found out on the last day that they had some on reception… Other than that, superb! The staff were great and I liked all of the food. The hotel has a great location, to get to the actual slopes probably took about a 3 minute walk, less coming back as you could board most of the way. Interior of bedrooms etc was absolutely fine with everything being clean and tidy. It didn’t look 5* but it doesn’t say its 5*.
