Overview: hotel description: Hotel Ducs de Savoie description

Hotel Ducs de Savoie is located in the centre of the main village, just a few minutes walk to the main lifts including the Solaise Express, the Bellevarde Express Chair, and the Olympique Gondola, with connections to the Tovière ridge and the skiing in Tignes.

The location is actually just off the main street so it's quiet but is still in the heart of the resort. The bus stop is just 30 metres from the hotel giving different options for the start of the day’s skiing, whether going to La Daille to be over in Tignes early, or to Le Fornet so you can be one of the first up on the Pissaillas Galcier.

The Ducs offers half board with chalet-style catering including breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meals with wine included. There's a staff day off midweek when only breakfast is provided leaving you free to choose a restaurant in resort for your evening meal.

The lounge, bar and dining room on the ground floor have been completely renovated for the 2021/22 ski season providing a more rustic and Alpine feel. You'll see from the photos that there's a warm and welcoming atmosphere in these communal areas with comfortable furnishings and warm wooden décor. The pre-dinner apéritifs and canapés are served in the bar before you move on to the dining room to enjoy evening meals with complimentary wine.

The bedrooms have also been updated with new carpets, headboard and lights. There's a selection of rooms from twins and triples to larger family rooms and suites, suitable for couples and families. All bedrooms have en suite bathroom facilities. You can also choose your individual room number so groups can book rooms together.

The hotel is shared with our sister company who specialise in family skiing holidays and childcare. The first floor is just for Esprit families and this is where the playroom's located. There's also a children's club room on the lower ground floor of the hotel.

The hotel has a relaxed family atmosphere best appreciated by couples who wish to enjoy some of the very best skiing in world-class Val d'Isère.

This package holiday to Hotel Ducs de Savoie in Val d'Isere, France departs Saturday 7th January 2023, for a 7 night stay on a "half board" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2024 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...

"A good week in Val"

We had a good week! It’s all about the snow and we had a good amount of that. The Chalet Hotel Ducs de Savoie was fine, bedrooms were basic but that’s what you get in 3 star accommodation. The service was superb – they couldn’t do enough for you and we found the food to be very good. Location was fantastic, smack bang in the middle of Val d’Isere. Lots of children running around, it’s very much a chalet hotel for families.
