Overview: chalet description: Chalet Hermine description

Chalet Hermine is just one of six ski chalets which make up a mini-village in the picturesque area of Peisey Vallandry, just below Les Arcs 1800. Set at the top of a slope and right next to the lifts linking you to Les Arcs and across the valley to La Plagne, you can't beat the west-facing views and dreamy sunsets.

The chalet has been very well laid out across five floors. The top three are dedicated to bedrooms and the outdoor hot tub and indoor steam room. The next floor down is the heart of the chalet as it's where you'll find the large open-plan living room come diner with its gorgeous fireplace and sun terrace. The bottom floor is home, unusually for a chalet, to a large communal bar for all chalet guests - ideal for an après drink or two.

Families will love our full range of kids' clubs, also located on the ground floor of the chalet. Our experienced team of nannies will look after your little ones from the age of four months right up to 12 years old with plenty of fun both in the warm and out in the fresh mountain air.

Head to your home-from-home after a day's exploring in the massive 425km Paradiski area to an afternoon tea with freshly-made cake and biscuits. Kick back on the large sofas, warm up in front of the fire and swap stories. Or for a little more relaxation and rejuvenation, hit the steam room and outdoor hot tub to soak in the snowy valley views.

If you're staying in the Hermine, you don't need to worry about any noise coming from the bar. The chalets are very well built and the bedrooms are two whole floors away.

Don’t forget that you get free guiding and coaching throughout the week from fully qualified ski and board instructors.

Designed for confident blue and red-run skiers and snowboarders, they'll show you around the mountain on free guiding sessions, and even offer free coaching sessions to help you become a more confident skier or snowboarder.

There are at least three sessions a week and we guarantee each guest at least two sessions a week. Your hosts will explain how it works when you get there.

Families: Chalet Hermine for children

Our youngest guests will be well catered for with our childcare and crèches taking care of kids from four months to 12 years old. For skiing kids, we offer a ski school drop-off and pick-up service, ensuring they're happy and settled. There's also evening care available on three evenings a week.

Your chalet hosts will be able to cook up dedicated kids' meals with all the firm favourites to make sure they're well fed, and at a time that suits you. You can also borrow our snow buggies and sledges for when you want to head out and explore the resort by yourselves.

For our youngest guests, we have a 24 hour baby room and UK standard cots and highchairs, just let us know at the time of booking if you'd like a cot in your room.

We can even provide a private nanny service if you would prefer to have individual care for your little ones. Simply call us to discuss your needs.

Evening meals are a three-course set-menu with regionally inspired dishes and free-flowing wine throughout the week, all followed by fresh coffee. We provide evening meals on six nights a week leaving you free to head out and explore the resort on one evening.

We update Chalet Hermine's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. Les Arcs came to be in 1968 after a group of ski instructors and architects dreamt up a resort with all the perks of a village but a mountainside location. It grew into one of the largest, most incredible ski areas in the Alps. The closest airport is Chambery with a transfer time of a couple of hours, plus transport links from Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble. Present-day Les Arcs consists of four main purpose built villages. The original resort, Arc 1600, was created for doorstep skiing and is linked by a funicular ...
As you'd expect from one of the biggest ski areas on the planet, there's everything from gorgeous tree-lined runs to wild, white-knuckle off-piste. For beginners, each of the 3 main Arcs has 'ski tranquille' zone, and the wide beginner runs leading to the resort have gentle gradients perfect for practising. Local instructors are on hand to show you the ropes, with ski schools based in each of the main villages (1800 has the most). There are magic carpet lifts at 1800 and 2000 - an easy way for newbies to get up ...
If you're looking for a party, Arc 1800 is the place to be. With heaps of watering holes like the Red Hot Saloon (or the 'Red Bar' to use local lingo), Benji's and La Folie Douce. If you're looking for more of a French-style après spot, Ambiente Cafe has a really cool atmosphere and lots of nice cocktails (happy hour usually starts at 4) while Le club 1950 your venue if you're looking to party into the wee hours. Arc 1600's a little quieter but for good music and a scenic terrace check out Les 2 Têtes. In te...

"I’d go back immediately if I could!"

We had a wonderful week, we had a family suite on the top level which was fine, the bathroom was a little small for us but it was nice overall. The living room was cosy but the only thing was that we were all a little disappointed that we couldn’t use the fire. The chalet was definitely warm enough without it but especially in the winter and when you’re skiing, it gives a little extra ambiance in the evenings. The food was nice, it wasn’t anything brilliant but it was OK. The portions were a little small for the adults which was a bit of a pity but the children were happy. We were lucky as this is probably one of the best chalets you can have for location as you just cross the road and you’re there. This was the most important factor when we were booking as we wanted somewhere that would be good for the kids. The childcare was OK but the kids club didn’t work for our family as it went on quite late and after skiing all day my children needed an earlier bedtime. We think it’s nice to have our children with us in the evening as we go away as a family. All the people we stayed with were very nice but there weren’t many other children the same ages as ours, luckily the other guests didn't mind our older children sitting quietly with their iPads so it worked quite well. Of course you have to be lucky with the other people you stay with, it is always a gamble. The thing we liked is that it’s a little like a hotel, you get your food included and your room tidied and all the facilities but it’s also family orientated and small unlike a big chain hotel. We were very cosy and warm and felt safe with the children which was really nice. We’ve already recommended it to our friends and would book it again.
