Stayed here in a big group last Jan – we thought the chalet was great, exactly what it said it was. The chalet is probably a three to five minute walk from the middle of the village of St Anton. No complaints from our stay here! It’s a nice clean chalet, fairly basic so not a luxury chalet but it was OK. The meals were good and varied – we didn’t get the same thing twice and got to choose. There was wine at the table which wasn’t an expensive wine but it was drinkable and they had a fridge with be... + more

Not too bad! I’d give it a 7/10. Acceptable. It’s a bit dated, I understand that they are renovating it for next season. There are some quirky decorations - plates on the wall, patterns on the ceiling, that sort of thing. The location wasn’t too bad. You have to walk to the lift, the bus doesn’t stop near... + more

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Hans description

Chalet Hans offers a traditional Austrian ambience and has the comfort of all rooms being en suite, many with small seating areas. The chalet contains some of the owner’s original artwork, including wood carvings and a mural, which adds to the chalet’s character. Rooms 2 and 3 can be interconnecting to make a suite, ideal for groups of friends or a family. Rooms 2 and 4 have sofa beds (for children only who do not eat with the main group)

Due to local regulations, we are no longer able to offer social skiing by our staff in St Anton. We are able however to offer one day's social skiing in Sonnenkopf (for a small transport fee, subject to demand and weather conditions).

Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. There's a nurs...
The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...

"Couldn't have been better"

Stayed here in a big group last Jan – we thought the chalet was great, exactly what it said it was. The chalet is probably a three to five minute walk from the middle of the village of St Anton. It’s also between there and Nasserein and about a 10 minute walk from the lift there which was doable. The décor and finish were slightly dated with traditional wood panelling and an Austrian style interior. Very clean and tidy, hosts were great and food fantastic, you get what you paid for it. I have skied in St Anton before and would say it’s best for intermediate and advanced skiers, not so much for families although as a resort it definitely has a lot to offer. It would be really perfect for young adults in their twenties and thirties as it has a good vibrant après scene.

"No complaints!"

No complaints from our stay here! It’s a nice clean chalet, fairly basic so not a luxury chalet but it was OK. The meals were good and varied – we didn’t get the same thing twice and got to choose. There was wine at the table which wasn’t an expensive wine but it was drinkable and they had a fridge with beers in it where you put a pound in the box and take a beer which worked out well as the drinks cost a lot more in the town and you didn’t have to go and get your own drinks from the supermarket. The room we had wasn’t terribly big but we only used it for going to bed. There’s a room under where you but your boots and skis which was useful. In terms of its location the Hans is ideal, it’s an easy 5 minute walk to the lifts and near the town which is really nice and lively.

"Acceptable chalet"

Not too bad! I’d give it a 7/10. Acceptable. It’s a bit dated, I understand that they are renovating it for next season. There are some quirky decorations - plates on the wall, patterns on the ceiling, that sort of thing. The location wasn’t too bad. You have to walk to the lift, the bus doesn’t stop near to the chalet. It’s about a 7-8 minute walk. The food was reasonable, the menu wasn’t bad. I thought it was unusual to have cooked breakfast every day; you can’t really get English sausages and bacon in the Alps… I wonder whether they bring it over from the UK. The sausages they served were an acquired taste! Their homemade cakes were good. Our room was small and clean. It was quite clearly end of season, the snow in St. Anton wasn’t good and we were the last group in the chalet. The two girls that ran the chalet were polite but there wasn’t really any interaction with the guests. They never made the beds and we had to keep asking for more toilet roll. One evening they prepared 1 meal too short. We went out to eat quite a bit, there are lots of decent restaurants. There is a nice Italian restaurant almost opposite the chalet. I got a cheap last minute deal with this holiday, but I don’t think I’d come back to St. Anton, I prefer places with more character.

Traditionally Austrian and with plenty of Tyrolean characteristics, it’s been given its own unique twist by the owner’s personal artistic talents, with everything from furniture to murals. It creates part of the homely and warm feeling that oozes from the building. A brilliant feature of this chalet is its location, nearly equal distance from the town (400 yards) and the lift (550 yards), with the Gampen lift a little further on than the town. This is an ideal choice for families and groups alike, especially those of us who are keen to get out and explore the town further, and with good access across the resort on flat ground, there’s no excuse not to!
