Overview: chalet description: Chalet Glacier, Tignes Le Lac description

One of our most popular chalets across the programme, the Chalet Glacier is an attractive, traditional ski lodge in the Tignes le Lavachet area. Standing less than 50 metres from the high-speed Paquis chairlift and nearest piste, after a decent snowfall you can ski right up to the door. It's also 5 minutes’ walk from the bars in Lavachet, or 10 minutes’ from the centre of Lac - and there's also a bus stop right outside.

The chalet is rustic both outside and in, with pine throughout - the kitchen caters for 28 guests seated at wooden benches, and the bedrooms are similarly basic. The living room is a comfortable place to relax, a good size with inclusive C-shaped sofas, shaggy rugs, and bean bags. The chalet is big on atmosphere and the same guests tend to enjoy it season after season regardless of whether they are large or small groups or families.

Please note:

Children aged 11 years and under are only accepted in school holidays (Christmas, New Year, February half term and Easter) OR if the whole chalet is occupied by one group.

Espace Killy ski area Fantastic après ski High altitude skiing

Tignes is somewhere you can ski longer, higher and further than most other resorts in the Alps. Owing its snow-reliability to the Grande Motte glacier, the local ski area is joined with Val d’Isere’s to form the mammoth Espace Killy - intermediates will have a whale of a time here. Choose between 5 different villages, whether your priority is convenience, cosiness or cheap accommodation. Tignes also has one of the most famous New Year parties in the Alps.

Tignes ski resort (pronounce it 'Teens') is one half of the stunning Espace Killy, one of the biggest linked ski areas in France. Because of its high-altitude terrain and access to the Grande Motte glacier, the resort is open both earlier and later in the season than many others and often the lifts are running for short periods of summer skiing. Predominantly purpose built, the resort itself is divided into 5 villages, each different in its own way but all well linked by lifts and bus services. The main area...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...
