Overview - chalet description - Chalet Founets Aval description

The joy of a chalet next to the piste has got to be languishing lazily over breakfast or squeezing in that last twilight piste as the lifts closedown for the day.

Position isn't always everything, but Founets Aval in Courchevel, a few steps from the Bellecote piste, certainly makes your ski holiday extremely easy.

Plenty of Savoyarde character and a touch of Alpine chintz in this little gem. From the abundance of wooden beams, frescos, hunting trophies and huge log fire in the galleried living area to the spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and spectacular views, this is a simple but extremely comfortable home from which to glide away to explore the Courchevel slopes.

Sleeping up to nine guests, the chalet has four en suite bedrooms and a small snug off the mezzanine. The galleried mezzanine itself has a comfy sofa and widescreen TV to relive your day by GoPro or catch up on your favourite shows after dinner.

An ingenious sauna that can turn itself into a steam room offers a touch of indulgence and relief for aching limbs.

This package holiday to Chalet Founets Aval in Courchevel, France departs Sunday 30th December 2018, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. Divided into five villages - each known by its altitude - the Courchevel area provides a series of settings to suit different tastes, group make-ups and budgets. For pure, champagne-popping indulgence, VIP area Courchevel 1850 oozes exclusivity and no-limits luxury. It's the largest and highest of the villages, and with a private airport, twelve Michelin stars between its restaurants, two palace hotels and a bundle of designer boutiques, it's a seriously swanky stomping ground for the fashionable, famous and aff...
Ideal for those at the genesis of their skiing career, a socking great 60% of slopes here are beginner friendly. There's a 'Stop Zone' where learners can safely conquer the basics before hitting the slopes, and 4 beginner areas (called Zen Zones) where you can gently progress – find two in the main area and one each in Moriond and Le Praz. As part of the effort to making the resort child friendly, fun for sprogs the focus of the Indiens piste, where little ones can enjoy face painting, a treasure trail and many...
Après ski in 1850 is the height of sophistication. Enjoy a cosy fireside cocktail in Le Stanleys or Les Ducs de Savoie, two of the resort's many piano bars; sample fine wine and champagne in Le P'tit Drink or head to La Grange or L'Arc (formally Les Caves) for an uber posh clubbing scene. Down in 1650, you can fully appreciate the stunning surroundings at The Signal bar. "Fantastic holiday"

We have had a great time in Courchevel, the chalet is beautiful and the skiing area is super. Paddy and Sarah have done a fantastic job of looking after us, really superb food and a very well kept chalet. They have created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and been very helpful. Whilst slightly further away from the resort centre than expected the lift system works well and the piste is so close that skiing in/out works well. Our nanny Becca has been brilliant with the children – it has been great to know that the children are well looked after and having so much fun. We would highly recommend Magic ski school who have provided fun and relaxed lessons which everyone has enjoyed and progressed well in. We hope to come back again next year!

The chalet is warm, clean and cosy. Our hosts were attentive and really made us feel at home. We were an hour late arriving at the chalet, but it wasn’t a problem for our hosts, or indeed white storm who waited for us to fit the boots. From the moment we arrived we knew this was going to be a holiday with no worries. We used new generation for the ski lessons and it was so easy to let them suggest meeting points at lovely locations around the area, we really got to see the best that courchevel has to offer. The location of the chalet is perfect, it’s so easy to get to the slopes, it took us 5 mins from getting the boots on to being on a chairlift! The next best thing to having a great day on the slopes is an inviting scene of fresh cakes and tea welcoming us as we walked through the door. Our hosts were lovely.
