Meals: Chalet Brigitte food & drink

We know that one of the most important ingredients of any winter holiday is the food. At the end of a crisp day on the mountain, there is nothing better than sitting down with a glass of wine to enjoy a delicious three course evening meal and re-live the day's adventures.

To get you started every morning we provide a hearty buffet of cereals, fresh French bread and jams, boiled eggs, porridge, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, tea, and coffee. On six mornings there is also a cooked option, such as bacon or sausage with scrambled eggs.

On your return from the slopes every day a delicious afternoon tea is provided of freshly baked cakes, bread and jams, and tea or coffee. On six evenings you will enjoy a wonderful three course evening meal accompanied by complimentary regional table wine. On the festive last evening of the week the meal is followed by a delicious cheeseboard of local specialities and complimentary port.

The majority of our chefs have gained their skills in restaurants and hotels around the world, and are keen to share with you the results of those experiences. Even though many return year after year, all are involved in our in-depth annual training programme to ensure they are able to meet the standards our clients have come to expect.

We update Chalet Brigitte's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

Together with Saint Martin De Belleville and Val Thorens, Les Menuires (say it Lay-Men-Weer) is part of the Vallée des Belleville and is the cheapest base for skiing in the 3 Valleys. This purpose-built resort is more focussed on the practical than the aesthetic. Le Menuires is split into five villages - Preyerand, La Croisette, Les Fontanettes, Reberty and Les Bruyères, all linked by walking paths, ski runs, shuttle buses and lifts. Les Bruyères or Reberty have the sloping roofs and wood-cladding the Al...
The resort has aimed to provide a wide variety for all abilities – and the proof is in the pudding! The opportunities are outstanding for skiers and snowboarders, but you would expect no less considering it is a part of the world's largest ski area. Novices will find five free lifts either end of the resort for getting to grips on gentle little green runs and longer greens such as La Violette at the top of the gondola from La Croisette. With a healthy mix of reds and blue runs covering the vast majori...
End a day of skiing on the large sun terrace in L'Oisans and sit down in the sunshine with a jug of beer. Kick back with a cocktail or shoot some pool in the cosy Piano Bar Le Kube. Sports games can be watched on the TVs at Café Snack. If you ski over to Val Thorens be sure to go for some drinks at the famous Folie Douce. Those looking for some late-night action have 2 night clubs to choose between; Le New Pop in La Croisette or Le Liberty in Les Bruyères - an intimate underground bar with seats fashioned like...

"Perfect position but small rooms"

Colin Long, Northumberland
5/ out of 5
The chalet was nice, the 2 young girls who ran it were very, very good and obviously enjoyed what they were doing which always makes a difference. The food was really good, they asked you in advance what you wanted so when you got there it was all sorted. My wife is a diabetic and the girls made sure there were snacks, cakes and sweets etc that were suitable for her, which meant she wasn’t stuck eating cheese all week while everyone else enjoyed the cakes. The chalet is cramped though, much smaller than we’d expected. Our room was clean and comfortable but the space was very limited. It was fine for the week and we were happy but it might have been a different story if the weather was bad and we’d have needed to spend more time there. Apart from everything else, where it’s positioned (20-30m) is perfect and for this reason I’d go back. The chalet is above Les Menuires and we only went into the resort twice, you can ski down and get the lift back up or there’s a free bus. There’s a bar right next to the chalet which was quite nice too.

"Really good"

Apart from my bedroom being a bit small (it was a bunk bed room) the rest of the chalet was absolutely fine. It was probably a 50 metre walk (if that) to the slopes and there was a really good bar and restaurant where you could stop on the slopes for a beer before returning to the chalet. Breakfasts were good with a full English every day and dinners were nice too.

"Great apart from hot tub and sauna not working!"

Would be a 4/5 but neither the hot tub or sauna were working all week, and as these were the reasons we chose the chalet it was quite frustrating and didn’t make it the best experience! The hosts were brilliant and the food was pretty good. The menu was fairly traditional chalet food, like coq au vin, then a couple of fish dishes which was slightly unusual. Wi-Fi wasn’t really up to coping with everyone. Location is spot on: 2 minutes’ walk from the piste. Bedrooms were pretty good and storage is as expected, with a big ski room and lockers.
