In the French Alps' Savoie region, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built villages and 4 traditional villages. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a l...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts and a wide choice of different ski schools for those new to skiing. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners. The blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin provides a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate skiers, La Plagne is paradise. 77% of the runs are graded either blue or red. Particular favourites are the run from La Grand Roch...
It might not rival Val d'sere or Verbier for their wild party scenes, but this is an exceptional resort for unique après ski opportunities. Try snowmobiling at night, ice climbing in Champagny, husky sledding, paragliding, extreme tobogganing and more! One experience not to be missed is the bobsleigh track, used for Olympic training. There are various ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at speeds ranging from 80 km/hr up to a lightening 120...

We had a great holiday! My only criticism is with the chalet room – there was no proper door, just a curtain, and you could see into the bedroom from parts of the landing. It didn’t feel very private. Even though the chalet itself is secure, it would have been nice to have a proper door. Apart from that everything was fabulous, the food was really good and our host Steph was great.

The chalet was very good overall. We actually booked Chalet Laponia initially, but that chalet didn’t get filled so they asked us to transfer into Chalet Becoin. It was nice because it was essentially an upgrade and we were given a very spacious room in this chalet. We got the mezzanine room on the top floor, and there were two bathrooms for just the two of us. The chalet was comfortable, the rooms were well equipped and the chalet host was very good. The chalet has easy access, the ski bus stops just outside. You can also walk to the nearest lift/piste in about 5 minutes. The nearest lift is one that takes you from 1800 to the main ski area. I was happy with the catering as well, it was a good 3 course meal each evening. There were plenty of breakfast options. One point to note though: the Wifi was not accessible on the top floor, and some of the guests said that it was intermittent on the middle floor (it was fine on the lower floor). Near to the chalet is a very good bar – La Mine, which is cosy, quite dark and has a nice atmosphere. Sometimes they have live music on.
