Overview: chalet description: Chalet Alysson description

Chalet Alysson is traditionally furnished inside. The open plan living and dining area is very bright with full sized windows, there are doors leading onto a large sun terrace....

The chalet has six twin bedrooms and one single room all with en-suite baths. The chalet also has a sauna, which is a great end to a days skiing. The chalet is a neighbour to Chalets Azalee that sleeps 10, should a much larger party wish to occupy them.

The chalet is only available for sole use only.

Situated in the Morel area in Meribel, which is just above the town centre. The town centre is less than a 10 minute downhill walk away, although if you prefer, you can take one of the frequent free resort buses there and back, which will take around three minutes. The chalet is a 250m walk in the morning to the Morel chairlift, take the chairlift to the bottom of the Alitport area, and head off for the day. If you are booked into lessons starting at La Chaudanne each morning, you will need to get the free resort bus from close to the chalet to meet your lessons. The location of the chalet means that if you choose to you can ski right back to the door. It is not recommend for complete beginners, although clients have said "it gives hours of excellent video footage" if you do. As you ski down the blue H'ulotte run, you will see the chalet off the path to your right, you can ski to the chalet or continue down the piste to the Morel Chairlift.

No-smoking chalet.

3 Valleys ski area Excellent ski schools Lively après ski

Meribel has a special place in many Brit's hearts – not simply because it’s right in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area. British made, and largely Brit run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a homely atmosphere in a good looking resort with more than enough pistes for a week (or three). It's made up of a huddle of gorgeous hamlets, built in traditional wood and stone and surrounded by thick woodland. The main area is Meribel Centre (usually known just as Meribel). A traditional alpine village with choc-box chale...
Meribel is one of the best ski resorts to learn in. There are three beginner areas known as 'Ski Facile' (easy ski) plus great green pistes to practise on including Le Foret and Altiport. Both runs are carefully planned out so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings. If you're skiing with children, there are fantastic ski schools and child-orientated areas, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees at the 'Pistes des Animaux' where children can learn about local wildlife as they e...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes can be as varied as the day spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It's said that you haven't experienced après ski here (or anywhere for that matter) until you've sampled toffee vodka in Le Rond Point, which is easily one of the most famous après ski bars in the world - complete with a slide down to the toilets! Meribel's rightly famous for its nightl...

"It's the little things that make the difference"

Anne Peterson
5/ out of 5
With an early start from Gatwick the coach transfer always seem tedious as you often feel hungry. Sophie came round with homemade flapjacks and water which was a 'little' extra that was greatly appreciated. Once in resort we met our chalet hosts, Lauren and Quentin, who turned out to be a great team throughout our stay. Lauren was lovely - really friendly, efficient and quick to respond to any request whilst Quentin's culinary skills were 'restaurant' quality both in taste and presentation. There were other 'little' touches during our stay that made a difference - the bottle of Evian and Kleenex tissues on arrival, bath towels that actually covered my body and good quality wines (not vinegar masquerading as wine) served with each meal. Chalet Alysson has a great lounge area - the furniture is more up to date and cosier than the website displays and the size is perfect for pre and post dinner chat and getting to know your fellow guests. We had superb weather during our week so the large sunny verandah surrounding the living/dining area was an added bonus and most days found us sitting in the sun with a cup of tea looking up at the snowy slopes :) The Chalet is tucked away down a quiet cul-de-sac with a short walk up to the Morel lift with access to the Altiport and beyond or you can take the bus down to Meribel Centre and Chaudanne or it's a 10 minute walk down to the centre.

"Chalet Alysson during Christmas 2013"

Paul Hooper
5/ out of 5
We especially appreciated the flapjacks and water on the airport transfer coach and the chalet hosts who met us at the end of the road and helped with our luggage. Meals and afternoon tea at the Chalet were superb, plentiful and beautifully presented by our hosts Quinton and Lauren. We loved the kir with canapes, cheese board and selection of bottled wines. Nothing was too much trouble and any dietary request we made was accommodated and we were very well looked after. The chalet was very clean and warm but would benefit by the addition of some further personal touches by the owner. It was a bit squashed for 13 people in the living area. Boot warmers and and a sauna made all the difference after a hard days ski-ing. We would definitely return to this chalet as the hosting, food and wine was the best in Meribel after six years of experiencing various companies...

The chalet was spacious and clean and in a great location although you did have to be somewhat proficient to ski back to the chalet. Lauren and Quinton made the stay more pleasurable with their superb combined cooking and hosting skills.

"Our fantastic hosts"

Albert ThatBigFatCat

Lauren and Quinton were both exceptional hosts, possibly the best all round in 20+ years of chalet skiing. The food was really good, the right balance of wholesome and richness, and both were friendly but also extremely professional with a real commitment to provide excellent service making sure we had a great time. They were also very flexible in giving our children choices of food, helping to keep everyone happy. The chalet itself was great, bedrooms were spacious (compared to many I have seen), and just close enough to the Morel chair. The other Alpine Action staff, in resort and in the UK office were all friendly and efficient. I also really liked the small touches. Water and flap jack on the coach, water and tissues in the Chalet.

"Another superb week in Meribel"

David Checketts
5/ out of 5
Just returned from another great week in Chalet Alysson, Meribel. Our hosts Lauren & Quinton went to great lengths to make sure that we had a wonderfully relaxing time in the chalet. All of the dishes served for dinner were winners and better than normal chalet offerings. Unlike our stay in 2013, when it snowed for 5 days out of 6, we also saw the sun on each and every day this year. With good weather, accommodation, food, company and snow conditions, what more can you ask for? The chalet company do offer a very good service from the moment that you make initial contact to the point where you say goodbye at the airport. Rooms are relatively spacious for a chalet and the bathrooms are also 'full size'. Chalet Alysson is in a quiet location but both the bus and the nearest chairlift are only a short walk away. If I had to pick up on anything, the minibus journey could be more comfortable. Perhaps it's the mountain roads that are bad but the constant jolting of the spine was not pleasant.
