We had a great week in La Plagne. The chalet was pretty good, a couple of rooms turned out to have shared facilities which we hadn’t spotted when we booked, but having looked a second time round it was in the brochure. It was a bit annoying having to share a bathroom but all in all everyone had a good time. Th... + more

In the French Alps' Savoie region, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built villages and 4 traditional villages. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a l...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts and a wide choice of different ski schools for those new to skiing. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners. The blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin provides a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate skiers, La Plagne is paradise. 77% of the runs are graded either blue or red. Particular favourites are the run from La Grand Roch...
It might not rival Val d'sere or Verbier for their wild party scenes, but this is an exceptional resort for unique après ski opportunities. Try snowmobiling at night, ice climbing in Champagny, husky sledding, paragliding, extreme tobogganing and more! One experience not to be missed is the bobsleigh track, used for Olympic training. There are various ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at speeds ranging from 80 km/hr up to a lightening 120...

"Thoroughly recommend it. Had a fantastic time."

We had a fantastic time here and I would thoroughly recommend it! The staff were brilliant with our children, they did a separate meal for the kids at 5:30 and in the daytime, they made the kids beds up putting their pyjamas in funny shapes and toys in funny places which they loved when they got back, it was a really nice touch and things like that that made the stay so great. There was a good mix of food each evening with child-friendly dishes and meals like casserole. The position of the chalet is really good, with the bus stop opposite you can pile onto the bus and it’s about 5 minutes to the slope. You could walk, but because we had children we went for the bus. We stayed in the upstairs bit of the chalet with our 2 kids and had the area to ourselves, I’d definitely recommend families to book this part of the chalet if you can.

"All in all pretty good"

We had a great week in La Plagne. The chalet was pretty good, a couple of rooms turned out to have shared facilities which we hadn’t spotted when we booked, but having looked a second time round it was in the brochure. It was a bit annoying having to share a bathroom but all in all everyone had a good time. The staff were pretty good and looked after us well, especially one of the hosts who was amazing. There was plenty of food and wine and we were really impressed with the standard; my girlfriend’s a vegetarian and they catered for her really well. It was a little annoying not being right on the slopes, on the map the chalet looks closer than it actually is. There is a transfer service though, and the skiing back was OK.
