For a slice of modern comfort in the traditional village of Maria Alm, choose the Alpenparks Resort. The wood-clad exterior helps it blend into its surroundings, but inside is pure 21stcentury.
You’ll be greeted with a smile, and the friendly staff are always glad to share local knowledge and tips.
The rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay, and are decorated with wooden furniture and warm colours to keep you cosy on cold winter nights. The other facilities are quite limited, but there is a sauna and a spacious relaxation area, so you can re-energise after a day on the mountain. And we’d be lost without WiFi these days – luckily it’s free throughout the hotel.
In the stylish restaurant, you can kick-start your day with a generous breakfast buffet.
And the best bit? The Alpenparks is located right in the centre and just 2 minutes’ walk to the lifts.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.
