Because Lazise is on the south-east part of the lake it’s less affected by wind, which gives it a warmer, more Mediterranean feel. This climate makes Lazise a brilliant place to holiday if you want to get the best of the sunshine. If you’re lucky enough to have hot weather – which is common here in May – Lasize has one of the best sandy beaches in all of Lake Garda. The water in the lake begins to warm in May and is warmest in the southern parts of the lake, which means Lazise is a great choice if you like to take a dip during your holiday.

Nearby zoo Parco Natura Riva is brilliant for a day out in May during your stay in Lazise. With open spaces to enjoy the sun as well as shaded and sheltered areas in case of too much sunshine or rain, it has a safari park where you can meet animals as well as a botanical route with amazing plants and a dinosaur park which children will love. Canevaworld and Movieland are also nearby and make for a great day out with the family even if the weather isn’t glorious. You can also visit the lovely Thermal Park Garda for some serious holiday relaxation.

For some real Italian culture, go to Lake Garda in May during the Chiaretto Wine Festival. Stay in Lazise and travel over to nearby Bardolino to sample the region’s famous Rosé wine and enjoy live music and entertainment.

May is a great time to visit Lasize before the weather and amount of visitors to the resort turn up a notch. For a sportier resort, visit windsurfing capital Torbole or cosmopolitan Riva or to stay somewhere a bit quieter with a milder climate, try Gardone Riviera.
