While Bardolino is quite busy during the height of summer, September tends to be quieter so, if you’re not tied to school holiday dates, this is a fantastic time to holiday here. We love the fact that Bardolino has so much to see and do come rain or shine, and there’s still a lot more of the latter at this time of year.

Temperatures cool down from the hotter summer months of July and August, and remain comfortably warm during September, which for many is when the climate is at its best. Bardolino only gets rainfall on average on 9 days in September, which means you’re still likely to have very “summer holidays” weather. In addition, it’s short rainy spells provide a great excuse to visit the local churches and museums or sample Bardolino’s shops and cafes. On clear days, soak up the early autumn sunshine from one of Bardolino’s pebble beaches, parks or its lovely lakeside promenade. The evenings here in September are usually warm, so head to the piazza for cafes and restaurants or dine by the water’s edge, where the sunset is breath-taking.

Bardolino is famous for its wine and, if you’re staying here at the end of September on a week that runs into October, you might be there in time for the Bardolino wine festival. Well worth experiencing, this is Bardolino’s main event of the year and usually involves music concerts, fireworks, alongside plenty of tasty local produce to eat and more importantly, drink.

Bardolino’s cooler climate means you can really enjoy it to the full in September. If you’d like to visit somewhere that’s slightly hotter as the summer draws to a close, check out Sirmione and Peschiera which are on the most southerly shores of the lake.
