{"id":621,"date":"2011-02-21T16:09:33","date_gmt":"2011-02-21T15:09:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sno.co.uk\/blog\/?p=621"},"modified":"2012-12-11T14:51:05","modified_gmt":"2012-12-11T13:51:05","slug":"cool-ski-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sno.co.uk\/blog\/cool-ski-holidays\/","title":{"rendered":"Cooler than ski holidays?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>What can you do in ski resorts that&#8217;s more exciting than <a title=\"ski holidays\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sno.co.uk\/ski\/\">ski holidays<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;Wingsuit Base Jumping&#8221; may be the coolest thing in the history of very cool things.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/18150336?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We&#8217;d all like to ski like James Bond and, with\u00a0Brits booking more <strong>ski holidays<\/strong> than ever before, many of you probably can.\u00a0 But the days of Connery are long gone and now the most adrenalised feats pulled off by the contemporary 007 are considerable more extreme than skiing fast while pursued by motorbikes with machine guns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">You might remember the vintage Bond moment where he skis off the cliff to certain death, only to see a parachute open as the hero floats gracefully away.\u00a0 This may be the first cinematic portrayal of the now widely known sport of &#8220;base jumping&#8221; (albeit on skis), but the modern super spy has since given up on the parachute, in preferance of the newer\/faster\/cooler &#8220;wingsuit&#8221; which\u00a0facilitates (in the words of Buzz Lightyear) &#8220;falling with style&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The guys in this jaw dropping film have gone one better, and teamed the high speed thrills of a wingsuit (normally flown by jumping out of an aeroplane) with the near-cliff peril of base-jumping.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Cooler than <strong>ski holidays<\/strong>?\u00a0 possibly &#8211; More lethal?\u00a0 definitely<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A\u00a0whole new meaning\u00a0of &#8220;terminal velocity&#8221; &#8211; expect to see this in the next Bond movie!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">(&amp; annoyingly the next series of Top Gear, accompanied by middle-aged car-based banality)<\/p>\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-621\" data-postid=\"621\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-621 themify_builder themify_builder_front\">\n\n\t<\/div>\n<!-- \/themify_builder_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What can you do in ski resorts that&#8217;s more exciting than ski holidays? &#8220;Wingsuit Base Jumping&#8221; may be the coolest thing in the history of very cool things.
