Murren Easter holidays

We love our Easter skiing because the days are long, the weather is agreeable (positively bikini-wearing conditions at times!) and it’s also a great excuse to eat loads of Swiss chocolate eggs… and where better to do this than the lovely little resort of Mürren. Perched high up on the side of the magnificent Schilthorn, Mürren is ideally placed to catch the springtime sun. Plus the local slopes are some of the highest in the Jungfrau area, which means they are also the most snow sure – an important factor when you are skiing later in the season. In particular the runs down from top of the Schilthorn are high enough to usually stay in good condition throughout April. Up here you’ll also find the Piz Gloria rotating restaurant where, as you will probably recognise instantly, the classic Bond film ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ was filmed. Make like Bond and launch yourself down the steep face below the restaurant - and get your friends to chase you for added dramatic effect!

Mürren is a fantastic resort for a family Easter holiday, as there are lots of child-friendly restaurants and plenty of fun activities to keep cheeky monkeys occupied. From sledging to ice skating, or whizzing down the exciting First Flieger zip wire over near Grindelwald, there’s so much more here than simply skiing. Plus there is the fab Snowli Kids Centre with a mini igloo village, and several nursery slopes for little ones (and big ones…) to learn on. Also look out for the Snowpenair music festival which usually takes place in early April; previous big names have included Joe Cocker, James Blunt and Bryan Adams.
