Visiting Les Sybelles from St Jean or St Sorlin d'Arves: Another traditional French mountain village resort. No tourists here, just nature and skiing in their purest forms. Find local bread in Pain de campagne and cheeses in Tomme and Beaufort for the simpler things in life. Beginner slopes here are found further up the mountain at La Balme 2240metres as these are some of the resort’s kindlier runs. A series of short red and black runs can be found up and around La Toussuire area for more advanced skiers, with 2 snow parks in Le Corbier and La Toussuire domains.

The home of Beaufort cheese! A cosier, more traditional resort, with beautiful forest runs and views of the famous and striking Mont Blanc on a clear day! I think its the ideal station for intermediates as this compact resort is red run central. Advanced skiers find powdery off piste by Grande Combe. My top tip: Take the very flat Boulevard de liaison blue run back from Le Planay to Arêches for river delights and the possibility of catching a glimpse of the local llamas!
