Couldn’t fault it – comfy, clean, fantastic host

Reviewed 21 May 2014

I’d have no problems staying in this chalet again. It’s in the centre of the town itself, for non skiing it’s ideally located as it’s on the main street above a ski shop near all the shops, bars and restaurants. There were some queries about noise from the streets, which we had one night but generally it wasn’t an issue.
Inside is a typical wooden chalet and everything is very clean and tidy. It wasn’t luxurious – it’s not somewhere you walk in and go wow!... but we knew the kind of standard we were getting. The host was very nice and she looked after us very well. There were three separate bedrooms, two on the same level as the dining room and kitchen and ours which was up at the top. We just had one of the rooms which was quite big, there were beams running through which were OK once you remembered they were there!
The food was fantastic, all the meals were very, very good. Every night she made us different drinks and canapés followed by a lovely 3 course meal – I couldn’t fault it. In the mornings you could have whatever you wanted, in general, it was more of a continental thing laid out with cereal, croissants and Danish pastries. If you wanted a cooked breakfast like sausages, eggs or porridge she’d make that – nothing was too much for her.
Wherever you stay in Chamonix you have to take a bus to get to the slopes but the bus stop was only 50-100 yards away from the chalet. The only little downside is that this walk is quite steep but it’s not long – if it was icy it would be a bit dodgy but they seemed to be very good at getting rid of the snow and ice on the street, so it wasn’t really an issue. Once you were on the bus, it depended where you wanted to ski and could take either 10-15 minutes or half an hour.
