Ideally located 6/5!

Reviewed 5 May 2015

I had an outstanding week, everything about the chalet was great, from the food to the hospitality to the location. The food was a really high quality and there was plenty of it, really enjoyed having afternoon tea too. Our host was great. Chalet Morille has a very convenient situation, the area’s pretty condensed so it’s easy to find your way around, in about a five or ten minute walk you can reach the centre of the restaurants and shops. My room wasn’t 5* but it did exactly what I wanted and was really well furnished. The bathroom was nice, especially the Jacuzzi bath and the complex’s pool, sauna and gym were excellent.

Good ski in/out location, looking over the piste

Reviewed 31 Mar 2015

The location was certainly good in terms of ski in, ski out and this was the reason we chose it. We had no complaints in that department but skiing out did take you onto one of the trickiest parts of the run – on the whole it was a nice and wide blue but the first bit might have been hard for beginners.

The main difficulty with the location was for those who’d booked into ski school (we used Oxygene). Getting to the start of lessons was a bit of a pain as it required a long walk from the chalet to the other side of the resort. If you wanted to ski down and come up on the lift, the timings didn’t work (one of our group tried this and ended up missing a lesson).

Belle Plagne as a whole, however, was fine - I’ve been to La Plagne before and prefer Belle Plagne as it’s a bit less concrete than some of the other areas.

The chalet itself is pretty basic but it was perfectly adequate. The twin rooms were all fine (some people said they were a bit small, but you get what you pay for). From the lounge/dining area, you were literally on top of the piste, so you could watch people skiing down. There was a balcony as well that you could stand out on. These aspects of the chalet were really good as one of our party had been injured the week before we came, so although they couldn’t ski, they didn’t feel too cooped up.

The food was fine, the young lad who did most of the work did a good job and was helpful and accommodating to any dietary requirements.

I arranged ski hire at the SkiSet shop that looked like it was closest to where we were going to stay and when we arrived it was actually right next to the apartment block, which meant hiring and returning equipment couldn’t have been easier. It might have been slightly more expensive than the other 2 shops in Belle Plagne, but it was well worth paying for. There’s also a bar right next door, which wasn’t the best bar but was very convenient.

Perfect

Reviewed 4 Jun 2014

Location-wise the chalet is perfect. You go down a couple of floors (or get the lift) to the boot room, then open the door and you’re on the middle of one of the main slopes. It would probably be easy enough for all levels, there were a lot of kids going down it who seemed to be fine. We didn’t have much snow the week we were there so it was quite icy and got churned up in the afternoon.

The guys who ran the chalet were fantastic and the food they did was brilliant, no complaints there. There were cakes ready for you when you came back which is always a good thing about chalet holidays. On the Wednesday which is their day off, we went to a nice place in the middle of town called Alpage.

We were in room number 1 which was downstairs where you go into the chalet. The people in the room next door got quite a lot of noise from the kitchen, which wasn’t a major issue but it might be worth trying to request another room if there’s one free.

There was a mini balcony bit which looked out onto the slope, which we just used to put some beers on. You have a bar at under the chalet in the hotel reception which is good for grabbing a couple of drinks and watching the sun go down after you come off the slopes.

There’s a sauna, jacuzzi and swimming pool but you didn’t have to pay for, just take your room key down. You could also book to have a massage.
It’s always a roll of the dice with chalet holidays as you don’t know who you get to stay with, but I’ve always been lucky and I wouldn’t do any other type of holiday.

Ticks all our boxes for quality and value

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

Whether you’re a fitness freak or a relaxation lover, this is a perfect choice. With its attachment to the Balcons de Belle Plagne, you can finish a day on the piste skiing back virtually to your doorstep, before relaxing either in the pool, gym, or sauna (or sofa!); the choice is entirely up to you. Ensure you check "before" booking, if any particular facility is essential to your holiday, as details do change during over the course of the winter season and facilities may only be available on particular dates.
