Lovely chalet but too far out

Reviewed 6 Jun 2016

We did have a good week, but when I booked I was under the impression that it was in the centre of Val d’Isere near the ski school - but it’s not. It’s not a 6 minute walk, it’s 6 minutes on the bus, and from the bus stop it’s a 5 minute + walk to the ski school. Having to wait for the bus and then load the children onto it wasn’t what we were expecting. We could never have done the walk in ski boots. It was a massive downside!
The week would have been fine if we were closer to the centre.
The food for both children and adults was good, though there was the odd thing like peas that were still raw. There was only one girl in the chalet looking after 6 adults and 2 children and she had too much to do. I had to go down and ask for the children’s dinner and quite often they went to bed late as their dinner wasn’t ready.
The building itself and our bedrooms (the children had one next to ours) were fine. The lounge is very nice and overall the chalet is lovely.
On its own I would give the chalet a high 4/5, but because of the let down with the location I would give the whole thing a 3/5.

Location, facilities and lovely host!

Reviewed 27 Jan 2014

I think the central location of this chalet, coupled with the exceptional interior décor and wellness facilities make this the dream chalet for small groups or families looking for a slightly more luxurious trip this year. You know you're lined up for a superb holiday with a hot tub (double check before booking), steam room and open hearth to welcome you home at the end of each day. With such terrific hospitality (nice wine selection too) you might find yourself tempted to spend all evening recuperating before your next assault on the pistes. Although with Val’s legendary nightlife less than a ten minute walk away surely it’d be rude not to venture out at least once…
