First chalet holiday, great week but not 4* standard

Reviewed 25 May 2016

I hadn’t stayed in a catered chalet before but we had a great time and I liked how it worked, especially the catering. Charlie the chef was great and we liked the food. There was a cooked option every morning. We had a lovely meal in La Casserole on the staff night off.
The other guests were lovely.
Our room was nice and I liked not having a TV in there.
The position is fantastic being so near the lift.
I think the chalet girls had had enough by this time in the season, as the service wasn’t 4* - we weren’t getting a coffee after dinner and had to put the coffee pot on ourselves when we came back for afternoon tea (the cakes were there, just no coffee). They didn’t service the rooms even though we hadn’t put the thing out saying to leave them.
On their day off, there wasn’t enough food left out for breakfast. There wasn’t a hot option, but they hadn’t put out extra croissants etc. to make up for it.
Other small things didn’t really meet a 4* standard either, like cheap toilet paper and no little shower hat or anything like that – just little added extras that you’d expect from a high standard accommodation.

Very welcoming and relaxed base for ski holiday

Reviewed 27 Jan 2014

With its welcoming open hearth, authentic wooden walls and floors and cosy communal areas, this catered chalet really is a home from home in a superbly sheltered part of the top of Val d'Isere. All of the well furnished rooms have en suite facilities (double check this), and the balcony on the second floor is the ideal location for a relaxed après ski drink. The Le Fornet cable car is just over the road and ready to whisk you up into the snow-sure areas around the glacier first thing in the morning.
