Clean, tidy, nice chalet

Reviewed 7 Jun 2016

A clean and tidy chalet. The service was good and overall it’s a nice place to stay. The food was pretty good and went down well with everyone. Location is very good – I should think it was a five to ten-minute walk to the slopes which made it nice and easy. It’s in a good spot out of the way, so there wasn’t too much noise.

Fine but noise from food warehouse was annoying

Reviewed 4 Jun 2014

The chalet was fine, and the lady who hosted it was very good. Her cooking was good. The rooms were very small and they were tired; we didn’t have a working bedside lamp to read in the evenings. The main problem though was the noise. I had booked into a different chalet next door and I was asked to move into the Chamois because the other chalet hadn’t been filled. I had specifically chosen a top floor room because the last time I came to Tignes we had a lot of noise from above. In the Chamois I was put into the ground floor room. This time the noise came from below not above (it was quiet from above) – there was a warehouse below our room where they kept the food for the two chalets. We were woken up at 5am by lorries outside and the staff moving things in and out of the warehouse. I need my sleep when I’m on a ski holiday so this really was a problem.
If they sorted the noise out (which would be easy to solve) then I would give the chalet a 4/5. The ambiance and the host were very nice.
The chalet’s location was ok. It’s a short walk down to the lifts. A really good skier could ski round the back and get almost all the way back to the chalet’s entrance on skis. The bus also stopped about 50 yards from the chalet so we normally skied down to Tignes Le Lac/Val Claret and then took the bus back from there. I prefer ski in/ski out, I’m used to that, I think I’ll be looking for somewhere ski in/ski out for next year.
